And later blew away my childhood memories... caught an episode probably a year ago... and now I realize WHY my mother hated it when I'd turn it on.

Never revisit childhood favorites.

I felt the exact same way with Speed Racer. I remebered it as the coolest show on Earth (well, one of the), that is until I watched the DVD a few years ago.
