Shame On You, Herm Edwards

Shame on you. Shame on Solari's uncle, too. You cost these players this game. Mistakes and all, they could have won this thing if you had let them play. You are sick, sick bastards.

That is all.

You can't be "aggressive", especially against a D-line that features at least 3 Pro Bowlers, with a shitty line.

Period.
You also don't take the momentum of a turnover and kill it with two straight 3 yard runs up the gut. That would have been the perfect chance to run a play action and let Croyle take a shot deep. Instead, we don't run play action until Damon comes in and you know exactly what will happen then, he'll see some pressure in his face and crumble to the fetal position.

I just don't understand how playing scared is good coaching. I understand the limitations of our line, but you aren't going to win with only 10 points on the board. At some point, you have to take some risks. And if you lose bigger, then you lose bigger, but at least you gave it a shot.

It really is the ultimate irony that Herm is known for that quote about playing to win because I have never seen him coach that way with our team.

You think the team will think higher of their abilities after this narrow loss, or if they'd lost 35-10, but they tried a bunch of stuff that didn't work?

Plus if they cover the 2nd half kick and Huard doesn't throw a WTF pick, we just might win that game. If we tried to call plays pretending we have a pass game and offensive line like Dallas we go down hard.

It'll be this way for at least another month.

That's true, but is the offensive gameplan under Herm Edwards a winning one?

I haven't seen anything that suggests this is the case. It's nothing but ultra-conservative, play it safe crap. Not only is it boring as hell, but it's hideously ineffective with this team.

And I don't think we can count on a team's starting QB to go down with an injury in the first quarter every week. It's foolish to assume that Brady wouldn't have led to a larger margin of victory.

Herm continues to denut all things of offense. Why bother with Gaily, they could have kept Solari if this is the way it is going to be. Herm needs to miss acouple of weeks and see how the team does without him

Your mistake is thinking that this is the ultimate vision. Give Chan more time to teach the offense, let Branden Albert play a few more games, get Will Franklin in there, have Jamaal Charles learn to pass block - it'll look different later this year. But the best chance to win at NE in week 1 with the team the way it is now was to play this way.

Man, that is a LOT of optimism. What leads you to believe this will be the case?

I don't know why Zouk thinks that, but the offense we saw at training IN NO WAY resembled what we saw today. There WAS downfield/vertical passing. There WERE outside runs.

I must say, on a lighter note, Branden Albert really impressed me today. By that I mean I didn't even think about him the whole game, I went back to look at him and he was really solid.

I probably didn't watch the pre-season games as closely as some, but I don't really remember seeing any of that in those games either. Why would we practice that way if we don't seem willing to implement it?

Just seems totally counter-productive. It felt like the offensive gameplan was "Let's make sure they don't butt-pound us too badly in this one. Maybe we can keep the blood-letting to a minimum."

That sucks on so many levels.

Can you really complain about the gameplan?

If not for a dropped pass, we go to overtime against the DEFENDING AFC CHAMPIONS.

I'm really having a hard time whining about the game now that it's over. Sure, I was raging during the game and wanted to punch my TV, but what can you do when the right side of your line is a sieve?

No, we lost to a team with a terrible QB that their management PRAYS every night will never see the field. The Chiefs ran the ball to the right side more often than not on first down. Playcalling was a joke and so was time management, but we should not be surprised about that by now.

We did not lose to the defending AFC champs, we lost to a team that did not have their Champion QB
