How about Dan Reeves? Slightly said in jest, but he can build an offense and develop a QB. I'm not sure his hard ass mentality would be welcomed by today's players though.

How many QBs has Reeves developed? Elway was a freak coming out of college... Reeves managed not to ruin him; I don't give him credit for "developing" him.

Reeves actually PLAYED QB in college and then became a quality HB for the Dallas Cowboys for eight years time. He then went on to serve under Tom Landry as an assistant. Reeves, might not be the perfect candidate, but he certainly identifies talent well and can develop them in the process. He might be a good fit, to at least get us turned into the semblence of an NFL team, while developing our players for the long haul. Reeves is a good foundation coach.

If the Rams don't keep him I like Jim Hasslet. I know I'm going to get bashed on this one, but he's defensive minded and knows the importance of offense. He's currently 2-0 as the Rams HC.

Can we make a sticky of all coaches who are likely to get axed this year? Especially HC's that could be taken off the throne and put back onto the coordinator stool?
Examples: Marvin Lewis as a DC. Does he still have it in him? Wade Phillips as DC. Runs a 3-4, probably not for us with current players, but that is up to a new GM/HC to decide. Norv Turner as OC. Could help mentor and prepare a rookie QB for the NFL. Rod Marinelli as DC or D-line coach. Steer clear of him though; comes from the Dungy Bucs line....we know what fruits fall off that tree. I have to run, but I am curious to see how big the list is and how useless most of them might be. Also, other than the bengels and lions, what teams are going to clean house like we should? Rams?

Assistant coaches and coordinators seem to be a lot of luck and a big roll of the dice.
For example, last year Chris Palmer came in as QB coach of the Giants and Eli emerged. Before that he helped develop Romo in Dallas. You'd say wow, the guy is great. But his two stops prior as OC/QB coach he "developed" Carr and Couch. I'm not sure I would have ever given him the shot that Dallas and the NYG's did, but I bet they are glad.

Give Bill Cowher a blank check and let's move forward.

This needs team needs discipline like a rapper needs tattoos.
Talent evaluation, drafting, and quarterback development is also seriously lacking. Cowher is the one guy who can instill discipline and motivation while have the cache of bringing in a solid QB coach and assistants. This team makes the Raider gig look easy. A no-name coach with a bunch weak-ass assistants will keep this vicious cycle-of-sucking going.

Jim Schwartz from Tennessee is my choice, here is why:
1) Tennessee went through a complete rebuild just like the Chiefs have done, they gutted that team and went with youth 2) Haynesworth has become the best DT under his watch (Dorsey) 3) Has worked under Bill Belicheck and Jeff Fisher 4) Big in statistical analysts for you baseball fans think Billy Beane's Moneyball 5) Has been a coordiantor, position coach, pro and college scout, and quality control. Basically he has been all the positons on a staff Just read up on him, you get more and more impressed the more you read into him. |

I like Spagnuolo, but I don't want him starting a rebuilding project.

How about this? While it may be a challenge, how about finding an assistant coach, perferrably a OC or a DC, who during his time, took over an average or a bad team, and transformed that particitular unit into above average to very solid unit? And not only made the transformation, but was consistent with it.
For example, when I was discussing with Mecca, about the Smith character for the Falcons, he was hired as a DC for Jacksonville and the unit improved during his time there. Now that he's gone, Jax's D isn't exactly top notch as it used to be.
