Will you be willing to chip in if someone offered to stream Chiefs games?

grandllama did us the greatest service last season. He put up some amazing Chiefs games streams. However, he can't this year because

I asked a few people and they said they would be willing to try to cover as much of the DT and streaming costs as possible.

This thread is trying to gauge how much we can cover (roughly). I'll PM grandllama and bring this thread to his attention. If he can't do it, please feel free to offer your great services to your CP brethren .

We will try to cover as much as we can of the costs.
I would also like to add that we would like it to be only accessible to CP members with special credentials so that it does not hog up the uploader's internet connection.

Here's what grandllama had to say about this. Anyone can help with setting it up?

Right now I'm pretty much homeless.

I can setup the streams again, but somebody will have to feed the streams. Someone in KC with a video capture card and a Windows machine would be perfect and I can show them how to send it to my streaming servers.

Of course, somebody with ST and a windows machine with a video capture card would work too...

Basically you just upload the stream to my servers and they do all the work.

The games cost me about $20 each last year in bandwidth costs.

So, what do you think CP?

As for me, I am going to chip in 50 dollars.
kysirsoze is putting 20 dollars.
Pawnmower, 10 dollars.
Munkey, 10 dollars.
Loochy 20 dollars.
chief1okie not specified yet
Blazzin311 10 dollars
ElGringo, 20 dollars
lurker king, 25 dollars.

Can a mod please sticky this and make the poll public?

I won't say I have not found and watched games myself (including GLs feed last year). My concern is for AustinChief and this website in general. I would hate to lose my on-line home.
The law states that we can have written links as that is just dissemination of information. Making them clickable links is where it gets fuzzy. At least that is the way it used to be.

I am still staff at what used to be one of the largest "aaaarrrrggghh matey" sites on the net. In fact, the owner of the site wound up in the Ohio Supreme Court because of our forum. In the end, charges were dropped because our links were not clickable.

Dunno if it would work the same in the state where this site is hosted but just passing along the experience. YMMV

I'm in the same boat. I can give 20 to start with and will donate at least another 20 a month , hopefully more.

I'm in for $20 if it is secure and reliable.

The Llama was my hero last year, as it was my first time living outside KC.

If there was a grandllama fund thread set up to help him out. And give out a password to the ones donating. If this were to go up. Would that send any red flags. Just thinking.

That was posted to illicit a reaction out of the people who get defensive when people suggest the media center be dropped. It was a joke. Apparently a bad one.

Given the recent actions to take down people who do this, It's pretty irresponsible to name names here.

this

its a pretty big deal nowadays. There was a major article not too long ago about them throwing some kid in prison over making 6000 bucks on a similar thingy.

This thread needs deleted asap and a replacement one needs posted that is a bit more discreet.

This would be a major concern to me:

http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairba...rts_arrest.php
Federal agents today arrested Bryan McCarthy, 32, for running a Web site that illegally livestreamed NFL games, pay-per-view fights and other sporting events.

The operator of channelsurfing.net was arrested at his Deer Park home without incident by officers of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

The feds say he had made more than $90,000 in profits from ads sold on the site since December 2005, and that the site had gotten 1.3 million hits since it was seized by the government on February 1.

"Today's arrest is another step forward in the ongoing investigation by New York HSI Agents into copyright infringement and theft of intellectual property rights," said James T. Hayes, special agent in charge of HSI in New York. "We will continue to investigate illegal streaming of programming on the Internet in an effort to preserve legitimate and creative business interests and deter others from engaging in online piracy."

"Bryan McCarthy allegedly sought to profit by intercepting and then streaming live sporting events, hiding behind the anonymity of the internet to make a quick buck through what is little more than high-tech thievery," said Preet Bhara, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. "This arrest sends a clear message that this office, working with its partners at HSI, will vigorously protect valuable intellectual property rights through arrests and domain name seizures."

The feds said McCarthy's site showed "National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Hockey League (NHL), World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). All of these organizations hold the copyrights to the televised broadcasts of their respective sporting events."

He faces five years in prison.
