Chris Ault

@danhinxmanRGJ: Chris Ault's agent, Bob LaMonte, confirms Ault has agreed to a consultant position with the Chiefs. Details to come.

If it's JJ Watt? Absolutely.

It's tough to evaluate that because he didn't have a run game. Charles will remove a lot of those troubles.

Yes, the QB who was replaced by Colin Kaepernick. Ault said when he was at Nevada and Smith was at Utah, he thought he'd be perfect for what they were trying to develop. "An Alex Smith could run the read system also," Ault said. "I remember him at Utah, he would have been an excellent pistol quarterback."

I need Sorter's opinion on this.

Does the pistol have legs as a longform gameplan in the NFL?

He'll be leaving on a stretcher if he attempts to challenge the opposition with Alex Smith running the ball.

He can.

He was 21-1 in college in Urban Meyer's spread pistol-ish system, an All-American and first pick in the NFL Draft.

He runs a 4.71 40 at 6'4", 225 lbs. and had a better 3 Cone Drill and 20 Yard Shuttle times than Cam Newton.

He'll run a Pistol Offense just fine.

I wish people would stop being such negativists with regard to Alex Smith. I wanted Geno for the Chiefs more than just about anybody in the country, but I'm not going to be a bitter pessimist and dump all over A. Smith because we didn't draft him. Smith has some pretty good tools and was completely screwed over by some really, really bad coaching for the majority of his NFL career to this point. When he finally got the opportunity to play for a decent coach, he played pretty darn well.

He'll be just fine here in Kansas City where he meshes exceptionally well with the coaching staff and rest of the personnel.

If not, then we get to move on when/if that happens, but I'm not going to take a shit on a guy who was the best option available to get this team on the right track right out of the gate.

Quit being a bunch of pussies for Christ's sake.
