this guy has flashes of brilliance but is so inconsistent and makes alot of big mistakes. .

That 3rd down pass he dropped would have been caught by Gronk and Gronk wouldve dragged the defenders into the endzone.

He averages 13 YPC. He catches the vast majority of targets. He had the most YAC of any TE in the league last season. He's big. He's fast.

The idea here is to weigh the good with the bad. Does Jamaal fumble sometimes? Yes, of course, but he also gives you more TDs and yards per touch of any player in the league. Does Kelce drop passes sometimes? Yes, of course, but the potential reward he gives you far outweighs the risk and throwing the ball his way far more often than not results in positive plays. FAR more often.

The problem with this is, we are talking about a TE that is targeted what?.. 6-7 times on average... compared to a RB that generally averages ? 25 opportunities?

Obviously, the RB is going to have some more screwups. The TE has to make the most of his limited impact... and we see how capable Kelce is.. but he's got to cut down on the focus errors (which focus seems to be the true issue on nearly all of his wtf? moments.

But he's not only playing 6-7 snaps per game. He's out there busting ass blocking for our backs and drawing coverages away from other guys on all of our other offensive plays.

He's open a lot more than he's targeted also. We need to feed the beast.

Kelce is fantastic running with the ball, when he holds on to it. He is a dynamic player, I don't see how that is debatable. There are only so many passing stats to go around in this offense, even when it is going like it has the past 2 months. With the connection Alex now has with Maclin, it's not shocking that Kelce's numbers have gone down.

He is still making plays in the red zone. The more Smith and Kelce let his size be an asset in the red zone, the better he will be. They utilize it on slants, throwing it high, would like to see them expand on that.

He's going to break off a crucial 40+ yard TD in the next few weeks and everyone's going to hop on his dick again.

He's our most dangerous player with the ball in his hands, period. I think he is struggling due to the lack of consistent touches, and with someone as big of an ego as he does I think it gets in his head and has mental lapses when he isn't involved in the game.

I don't disagree with any of this... and yet it still changes nothing of what I was saying before.

Kelce may never get that much focus.. so long as JMac is here, and KC elects to spread the ball around. He sure as shit won't be a priority in Andy's play design, if he doesn't cut down these ridiculous mistakes.

Kelce lit it up week 1 and was ignored the following weeks. Had nothing to do with his "poor play". It's Reid's wacky ass playcalling.
