What Would You Do In My Shoes?

I'm in 2 Fantasy Football leagues this year, both a $100 buy in. A 12 team league that Pest is the commish of, I'm about to win for an $800 payday. The other is an 8 team work league where 1st place is $500. Unbelievably, I'm about to pull off the upset of the year and win that one as well.

Problem is, the commissioner lost his job with us and doesn't have the money to pay me. He's not a violent, fighting type of individual. Kicking his ass won't print money, but would probably motivate him to sell his PS4, and other shit off to get me paid. Would you do it? I'm really not inclined too, but there is a principle behind this so I am genuinely considering leaning on him to motivate him to get me paid.

The fact is, if it were me under no circumstances would I spend the money if I were the commish. At all. And everyone already tells me I'm too nice. The thing is, I really don't need the money, but could definitely use it, and if the roles were reversed I'd hope someone would show me some grace. While I wouldn't expect it too happen, I really do believe you should be the change you wish to see in the world. I'm pretty conflicted here. Genuinely. What would you do?

I get that. I just assume that some cases will get higher priority than others.

I had some piece of shit steal a 20 dollar radio out of one of my refund car pile. Ruined the whole dash in a 3500 dollar car for it too...

It's a lawsuit on a Fantasy Football league which is the point I am making. Tho' Flop's sounds like it's among friends. Still, it's a broken contract and even if only done orally sounds like enough witnesses to confirm that. You can sue anyone over that if the deal was legal. I never let anyone get away with stiffing me small or large even if I have to use small claims or just get a nasty letter written by an attorney both have worked every time for me and it wasn't always on a business. If it's a small amount I don't let it go to teach a lesson. I would at least threaten it to get my original pay-in amount back and be happy with that.

Maybe we should ask Judge Judy.

I could see if my cousin still has some Sicilian connections.

And I love to fight but never loan money to anyone but a friend. I also never fight over money, if they don't pay then it's a cheap way to find out someone wasn't really your friend.

But then they better never make light of owing me because wet aren't friends any more.

Did you say his device on his car is one where he has to blow sober to start it?

If so, there's you answer right there. Alcoholics will always spend money on alcohol first. We had some renters -- 'friends" -- who got behind on rent. one month, then two, then three. Then they paid half a month, then were four months behind. I was not near the house otherwise I would've paid them a visit.

Once we evicted them I went to the house. The number of booze, wine and beer bottles filled three large trash bins, with some left over. the place had so many empty bottles in the laundry room it looked like a fricken carnival ring toss game.

No leniency otherwise you're just enabling.
But i'd be supportive. Sounds like he does need help. Help him help you.

Yeah, you're right. I'm ****ing pissed he's putting me in this position. I've already gotten 4 texts in the last hour or so from coworkers who have seen I'm going to win this thing and offered to come with me to pay him a visit. I'm going to send him a text explaining that he's going to have to find a solution and get us paid, and that if he doesn't come see us, we're coming to see him. Poor ****er. ****.

Don't escalate it. He may run or get sketchy. Be firm but supportive. See how it goes. At least he was upfront about telling you he doesn't have the money.

Yeah, I'm not going to put anything crazy in writing. We know where he lives though. I'm also inclined to check up and make sure he's not working. If he can give me a firm date on when he can get it paid, I'd be willing to give him a little time as well.
