Would prefer go big and sign the RT from Jacksonville if we're looking for a RT. I don't think they'll pay one, since I'm guessing they pay OBJ then Humphrey and or Smith in the next year or two. |

I don't know if he's going to be all that expensive. I think he'll come cheaper than JuJu will at this point, which is why I favor signing him more than JuJu. That said, JuJu is more reliable in securing the football. I do think the sporadic usage of Slayton up to the past 8 weeks hasn't helped him but a long date with the Jugs machine would certainly be in order. |

Everyone gets drastically overpaid these days.
Hargrave is the most disruptive NT in the NFL, hands down. There's zero doubt he's going to cost a hefty contract. I'm expecting at least 17 per. You can call it overpaid, but there aren't many DTs in the NFL as good as he is. If Andy Reid was serious about interior pressure, a pairing of him and Jones is as good as you can get. Davenport is going to get paid beyond his results, absolutely. Astronomical money? I doubt that. He hasn't reached any sort of level of consistency to deserve a contract that I'd consider gross overpayment. He's actually alot like Romeo Okwara was when he got paid, but with one less year in the league. So, I could absolutely see a similar 3/37 type of contract. I can live with that so long as you structure so you can get out of it early if he doesn't ascend. One thing for certain, Davenport is easily the biggest boom-or-bust guy you could take a shot on. The rest of the FA options are very meh. Slayton, well he's going to get a contract. He's not total shit. He's at least a bit better than Russell Gage and he got 3/30. I'd probably put my expectations more on par with Robbie Anderson who was 2/29.5. Let's say you get him for 3/45, I think that's the high end. JuJu, I think he's going to be more in that 3/60 range. At the end of the day, I think KC has to pick their poison when it comes to FA vs Draft. I think they have to nail down a couple of areas in FA and leave one or two open. The FA tackle class is shaping up to be a couple of guys and a lot of shit. It'll be overpaying for average or going to the draft. I think the same about DE. I think FA DT and WR have some nice players worth investing in. Nail down DT and WR in FA is my opinion. It doesn't have to be the guys I like but I'm giving my fan opinion on guys that I think would be the biggest impact. I'm open to taking a shot on a guy like Davenport at DE. If not him, let the bargains flesh themselves out and grab one of the meh guys that offer little upside but at least some rotational quality like an Omenihu or whoever. That said, you sometimes gotta lay some chips down. You're not going to solve everything in the Draft. You're settling on big contracts somewhere in FA. I'd rather pay Hargrave and Davenport 30 million than pay OBj 30 million. |

Davenport at 3/40 would be fantastic from a potential upside scenario.

Very similar to the deal Hendrickson signed when HE left New Orleans. That has worked out well...

There's a non-zero chance Spags walks -- I think his contract ends this offseason. If he stays, he may just prefer another long, powerful strong guy. |

So from what I have gathered, as long as a player's void years trigger BEFORE the franchise tag period OPENS then the team has the opportunity to apply the tag. If not, then the player cannot be tagged and becomes an UFA by default.

In the case of Javon Hargrave, his void triggers on Feb 13 and the tag period opens Feb 21 so he could be tagged if the Eagles choose to do so.

Considering where they are against the cap and the resources they have invested in the DL (including Jordan Davis waiting in the wings at NT), I don't think they tag Hargrave.

I agree. They have two really good DTs waiting in the wings, including Davis who was the 13th overall pick. They are going to save money and let Cox and Hargrave walk IMO.
