Tony G has cleaned out his locker

NFL Network, expecting to be traded.

**********

Per Rotoworld
NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports that there's an "80-85 percent chance" that Tony Gonzalez will be dealt to the Falcons this offseason.

Lombardi says Gonzo has already cleared his Chiefs locker in anticipation of a deal. The Chiefs lost their second-round pick in February's Matt Cassel trade and are reportedly willing to send Gonzalez to Atlanta for the No. 55 overall pick. Gonzo recently turned 33, but obviously can still play. He caught 96 passes for 1,058 yards (11.0 YPC) and 10 touchdowns in 2008.

Exactly. That's why I've never been on board with this nonsense about him being a "me-first" type of player.

If TG is worth more to us in a trade for a second round pick when we have no $ issues and need all the play makers we can get..........

Sorry I find that depressing.
Yeah, because the Chiefs have defensive players equal to the Falcons.

The Falcons have several high first round picks on their roster. They didn't have a roster bereft of talent, unlike the Chiefs.

I've always liked him. He's always put out 100% on the field and deserves total credit for that. But it really is the whole "trade me" thing that has done me in toward him. If we keep him, I will still like him as a player. I would like to see him just be content to be a Chief and go out as a total class act, proud to be a chief his entire career, having left everything out on that field in arrowhead. He would retire here as the most decorated Chief (next to maybe Lenny Dawson) in the history of the franchise. But He can't see the value in that.

Seemed like it was just his opinion to me.

And remember, in a Pioli front office, there are no sources. People end up at the bottom of lakes for that.

I find it strange that we are bringing in veterans and he still wants to leave.

I thought he said in the off season it would depend on if they want to tear this thing down and start all over again then I would be open to go somewhere else.

Lombardi reported he was unhappy with the new regime.

He probably heard the same presser I did where Clark said we aren't trading Tony Gonzalez.

I don't think you get my point but I will argue Atlanta and KC were in similar positions after the 2007 season. We also had several fairly high picks sitting around who may not be on the team 2 years from now. Carl's crappy drafting and Clark waiting another year to blow things up are the difference between TG being relevant to KC's plans or trade bait.

That's depressing. Whoever we draft with a 2nd round pick will not likely add the value TG would to this team the next few years. Obviously after that different story.

BTW Atlanta was 11th in scoring defense and 24th in yards given up. Their offense (10th and 6th respectively)was the reason for the turnaround not the defense.

A second round pick for a player who has stated he will retire in one or two years!

Sounds good to me. How often did Haley's offense pass to the tight end anyway?

It appears Tony Gonzalez isn't the kind of veteran leadership this regime wants.
