Progress. Compared to what? Going 2-28? Since then they are 7-7, have won 4 straight, and are 3-0. I think progress has been established. Think big. Winning is not out of the question. But Charles needs more carries and Cassel sucks.

I put in for the win category. To really impress me, IMO - they need to find a way to win. Though I'm not going to be crushed by a stat fest impressive game and still come away with a loss.

A road win in the NFL is hard enough. A road win in Indy even tougher. You guys are a tough crowd.

A win on the road against a contender. That would remove what's left of my lingering skepticism.

FTR, the Colts haven't beaten the Chiefs consistently so much as the Chiefs have beaten themselves with piss poor coaching or no defense.
The Chiefs were nothing more than pretenders under Marty, and even less since.

Above and beyond everything else, Id like to see Cassel step up...on the road, against a quality opponent, that will surely be close to selling out to stop our running attack.
He should have multiple opportunities to strike with mid-range passing and not just with Moeaki (who should have a good game, he is VERY good at finding the soft spot against cover2) he should have chances to make plays in the air and we will surely need him to. This will be the kind of game (similar to playoff games) that we will need the quarterback to make plays to win, even if just a few. If Cassel can hit em a couple times past 20-25 yards in the air and another 3-4 times between 10-20 yards in the air, we will have a very good chance at coming out with another "W" |

I guess real progress would be taking a knee in Indy for the win with Peyton on the 'effing sideline watching.

Indy is definitely not hitting on all cyclinders for various reasons but still PM's offense will match you "tit for tat" most of the time and we 'CANNOT' afford 'ANY' turnovers whatsoever especially on the road against PM. He will make you pay. PM and Crennel know each other like the back of each other's hand and Crennel has won most of those battles 'BUT' Crennel had a better pass rush and better 2ndary with the Pats. PM knows our 2ndary is young and gives up the "Big Plays". He will go after Berry big time. Count on it. Colts running game is damn near non-existent and still PM and crew can put up 28pts through the air in a heartbeat. He doesn't need the run to set up the pass because he is that good and knowing and reading D's thus calling the right plays in a "milli-second" to expose those soft areas to complete passes. This game is huge psychologically for both teams at this time but for different reasons. The Colts will come in with a high sense of urgency to win especially against a team that it in their eyes are a "big pretender" at 3-0 in which they want to expose this and more importantly to avoid questioning themselves that something is wrong with their team this yr by losing to an inferior team at home and also being 0-2 in their division already. For the Chiefs, Piolie,Haley and the coaches have been teaching the Chiefs all along to this point "HOW TO WIN" but just not winning at home but winning on the road against a good if not better opponent at this point of the season. The Chiefs need to show themselves they will not be intimidated by PM and match his intensity level and make less mistakes and take advantage of all opportunities both offensively and defensively if they are to be taken seriously. This game could very well be their "RITE OF PASSAGE" game where they graduate from a "group of boys" playing a game to "special forces of men" on a mission to search and destroy the enemy and win at all costs. Losing all of sudden is not an option now for the Chiefs because now their character as a team has risen to the maturity level of not accepting defeat whatsoever. This is the difference between mediocrity and greatness. Progress for me is that I don't want to see my Chiefs backdown whatsoever regardless of the ups and downs during the game. If this happens you will see a Chiefs team match PM intensity at every turn never being intimidated and you will either see a Chiefs victory or respectful loss. The big goal here is the Chiefs need to show themselves they have grown together as a team and are not pretenders at 3-0. If I'm Haley I am telling them everyday that this is their "Rite of Passage" game because the rest of the NFL and most NFL fans say we are pretenders at 3-0 and we are going to get our asses handed to us. "Well fellas here is the reality, champions play big in big games. Are you a champion or just a player? PM is not God, we are "NOT" intimidated by anyone and Goliath gets his head chopped off this W/E and we go 4-0.

I still don't think we have any chance in this game. I don't think running the ball is going to be enough. Cassel is going to have to make plays, particularly if Indy comes out primed to stop Jones and Charles (and you know they will). The only shot I think we have is if we have enough of a passing game early to open things up in the running game. And we can't get behind. If we're a couple scores down early and in constant passing mode, those Indy ends/OLBs are going to have Cassel for lunch. These are the keys to me: survive the initial onslaught early/keep it close, execute early in the passing game to open up the run, make some special teams plays, be at least +2 in turnovers (preferably with none of our own), run the ball down their throats late but sprinkle in some play-action and trickery deep/keep attacking the whole game. In order to win, we're going to have to have to play as well for 4 quarters as we did in the second half against SF, and we have no margin for error. If we make mistakes, we lose. Tall order. |

A win here is progress. Now if we can have a win, 30+ carries by Charles, and multiple sacks by Smith, we have...
