Seems strange the NCAA will allow him to practice, attend classes, but yet still thinking about it. As if they would come back later and be like, oh just kidding he's not eligible. I would think if anything this is good news. McLemore & Jamari were partial qualifiers and I'm pretty sure they couldn't practice with the team at all until after the 1st semester.

Lightfoot Chooses Kansas

Mitch Lightfoot has decided to continue his college basketball career in Lawrence, Kansas.

The 6-8, 210 forward's commitment is a bit of a homecoming, as he lived in Kansas until he was six-years-old, and from there moved to Tucson before spending his final two years of high school in the Phoenix Metropolitan area at Gilbert Christian. Lightfoot grew up a fan of Kansas, and recounted to ArizonaVarsity.com back in July some of his favorite Jayhawk memories.

"I love watching them as a team... I remember watching Mario Chalmers hit that three in the tournament to win it. I remember the Morris twins. One of my personal favorites is Thomas Robinson. He's a hard worker who put himself in a position to succeed every time he was on the court."

Lightfoot was originally pledged to New Mexico, but reopened his commitment in April of this year. Kansas extended an offer to the forward that Rivals ranks as the #117 player in the country within a week of Lightfoot reopening his recruitment. Lightfoot then saw his recruiting pick up steam over the summer, and his strong play at the club level brought media attention and comparisons to the likes of Sam Dekker, and even Christian Laettner during his visit to Arizona State.

Lightfoot's visits to his top 5 schools took him to Stanford in May, and Utah in early September. He visited Kansas in mid-September, days after hosting coach Bill Self for an in-home visit, and then finished his tour of schools in October with trips to St. John's and Arizona.

Prior to heading to Lawrence, Lightfoot will attempt to lead Gilbert Christian in a defense of their division 2 Arizona State basketball title. Lightfoot averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks per game last year en route to a state title win.

Need to win the tourney this year, then hopefully reload with some guards for another run in 2-3 years.

Self used to go get 7 footers. Now there are a glut of 6'8 guys. I wonder if he is going to take the go small approach the NBA is taking.

Diallo may be 6'9" or 6'10", but he has a longer wingspan than anybody we have had. And thats really the only thing that matters.

They're likely not going to do it as long as Perry is a major part of the team, unfortunately. Once he goes, though, I'll begin hoping again for something like that.
