The NFL is not going to be sticklers regarding the Rooney Rule with the Chiefs...they can make a judgment call on this. I don't care what the letter of the "rule" states...this is not even going to be an issue for a team that currently employs an African American coach. Plus, why is anyone worried about this? Do you actually think Clark/Pioli are so stupid to have not thought of the Rooney Rule implications? A bunch of nervous-Nancy's around here.

It's not like he works for WPI. Guess I don't have any opinion on it one way or another if it is true. Probably the same as when they hired Vermeil. I just hope he stays the hell away from the defense and they don't have a revolving door at DC like they do in Denver.

I'd bet most of them would be pretty upset about it. If the Chiefs do hire him I'll bet several of the mange regulars will show up here looking for trouble. Anyone else feel confused? I bet this is how a gay person feels. They don't know if they should accept and embrace or continue to fight the feeling. I like Shanahan as a coach, just not our coach.

I don't believe this rumor. Having said that, despite my own feelings, the sense of shock and awe that this would level on the Broncos and their fans would almost be worth it to me. Here's a segment from this morning's Denver ComPost with a mailbag for Woody Paige. KC's not even on their radar:
