When you have your coach screaming to do something else I'm sure the logic got thrown out the window. I wouldn't blame the athlete in this case. What about American curling, they probably knew better too but followed the skips direction anyway.

In the heat of battle, I think the skater probably just panicked a little. The coach was yelling at him and given the situation, the fatigue, and the nerves, he just reacted without thinking. I don't blame him really, but it is strange that he's famous for being an awesome, experienced, world-class skater and, for whatever reason, he simply doesn't skate the lanes correctly in the biggest race of his life. Weird.

The refs did a good job in this game. It looked to me like Czech players were taking dives early trying to draw penalties and the refs weren't buying.

I used to enjoy it. then the Blades left KC and the Scarecrows left topeka. I hate it on TV but love it live and in person.
