Let's Talk About the Eagles (Super Bowl 59 Discussion)

We're headed back to the Ship and will try to be the first team to 3-peat in Super Bowl history!!! Chiefs open up as 1.5 favorites over the Eagles.

Discuss.

Winning all these close games couldn't possibly have anything to do with our Hall of Fame Head Coach only having two losing seasons in 26 years, our Hall of Fame Defensive Coordinator who has won 5 Super Bowls, or the fact that we've been building a culture for 13 years while most teams have cycled through 3-4 coaches and GMs in that time. Oh, and our generational QB who could retire today before the age of 30 and still be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Definitely nothing to do with those things, it's the refs.

People generally agree you could call holding on every play. So how do you decide when to call it? When not to?

Watch every player on every play and you’ll find some form of missed call. You’ll find all sorts of bad calls. The game is just too grey to get perfect with the current system of officiating.

Then, factor in that the Chiefs win (a lot) and the games are close.

Makes it easy for unhappy people to blame the refs.
Probably the hardest sport to officiate along with being able to rig. Too many moving parts.

On top of that, WE can watch every player on every play, and at different angles, in slow motion from our couch... then tweet it out to the world like it was the most obvious thing ever, if only the ref had the overhead camera view and was able to slow down time to see it.

And then you view some slow motion replay with all caps outrage over some call, never have to look at real-time speed/angles/etc and you're just as convinced as some goober on social media that it's all rigged.

It's why I think social media is really the true culprit behind the perceived Chiefs hate compared to other dynasties.

Other dynasties have been hated, but in the social media era, thousands of people can go online and complain about it and see others complain about it, and feel validated. Feel that they're correct. "If all these other people think the Chiefs are cheating, it must be true!" Sports talk shows have spent better part of the last 2 weeks talking about the officiating for the Chiefs. That would be absolutely unprecedented even 10-15 years ago, to have legitimate NFL analysts spend legitimate air time debating if the game is rigged for one particular team.

Never has a dynasty been more criticized than the Chiefs because of the social world we now live in.

Can you imagine the outcry in this day and age if the Chiefs were caught videotaping their opponents sidelines? The pats got caught with spygate before iphones even came out...

That's the shit that annoys me... I've seen a few awkward interview questions asking athletes about some asinine theory, athlete says "that's ****ing stupid," interviewer is like "hurhur, yeah right... why would I uh... ever ask ...you... that....". Especially if it's someone worth listening to, just wasting air time on that shit (except maybe a Pat McAfee rant or a Travis Kelce joke... but most of the time it's just ****ing stupid).

I just saw where the refs association released a statement over all of the bullshit, Goodell had to comment on it.

Keep that shit in the social media cesspools where it belongs.

Literally just watch Chris Jones, every play, every game. He’s held so much it’s ridiculous.

Could you imagine going on SportsCenter in the mid 2000's and calling the Patriots cheaters? Even with Spygate, you'd be laughed out of the building and would probably tank your professional career for daring to suggest the Patriots cheated. Or in the 80's calling the 49ers cheaters? Saying Joe Montana and Jerry Rice are best friends with the refs?

Now it's commonplace. It's almost accepted.

According to ESPN's Sal Palantonio, Fangio wants to take advantage of their speed on D on the fast turf in New Orleans. It seems like the game plan for them is to come after Mahomes rather than dropping back in coverage. On offense, Pat is going to have to get the ball out real quick.

This ref shit is getting out of control. I’m getting really concerned about overcompensation that might occur. I cannot believe this shit is happening right as we’re about to 3-peat.

I hope we just destroy this team to an extent we have never seen in this entire run.
