Everyone Agrees The New England Patriots Are Not Built To Win In The Playoffs. Here's Why


I dont believe in the New England Patriots.

In fact, as a member of the national media I dont know a single journlist who thinks the Patriots are that good, or ever have been great. These are people who watch the games, by the way. What the Patriots are, is lucky. What the Patriots are, is a average, poorly coached football team with a mediocre QB, and a dispassionate fanbase. Cue the McO’Sullivan brothers from Southie to invade the comment section right after they’re done getting their homemade “TB12″ tattoos by standing outdoors for 8 hours writing on each others skin using a magnifying glass on the sun like a laser. I’m sure you’ll be making some valid points. Not.

I guess I’m just old fashioned but I’m not going to crown the Patriots before they show me that they can win a big game. Postseason football is a different beast then the regular season, something most Patriots defenders fail to comprehend, and just because New England were dominant September through December dosent mean they can win when it actually matters.

Andy Reid has been around the block long enough to know that the playoffs are a different game, and Belichick better make sure he understands this as well or this game will be over before it even starts. This is big boy football in January and the stakes are higher- the Chiefs have proven they can beat the hottest team in the game, and all the Patriots have done is hold serve. Nice regular season, Pats, but the Chiefs are built for January.

Another reason to doubt the Patriots is the fact that the elements clearly favor Kansas City. Its going to be cold cold weather down there in Kansas this weekend which could pose a challenge for Bill Belichick and his squad.

Lets look at the positions of impact (POI):

Coach: Andy Reid has one of the best records in the NFL over the last 15 years. Bill Belichick has 3 times as many Superbowl losses as Coach Reid. Advantage: Chiefs

Quarterback: Patrick Mahomes is the league MVP and started for his college team for 2 years, while Tom Brady was a servicable backup/part-time starter at Michigan. Mahomes was a first rd pick while Brady fell all the way to the sixth because of character concerns and what many scouts called a lack of competitiveness and abivilance towards his personal nutrition. Advantage: Chiefs

Fanbase: Kansas City fans are among the most knowledgable in sports, with the greater KC area having a dedicated “sports talk” radio station for fans and hosts to discuss the ups and downs of their favorite teams. Boston dosen’t have that type of culture around their sports, with most Massachusettes residents preferring to hang their hat on their region’s art & culinary scenes along with their extensive literary traditions of studying transcendental prose of Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, complementing New England’s long legacy of understanding satire.

Kansas City fans are ardent defender’s of their favorite team, which has led to them being one of the great historical AFC teams, dating all the way back to the mid-90s when they were led by the greatest NFL Quarterback of all-time Joe Montana. Advantage: Kansas City Chiefs

In Conclusion

In conclusion, our POI proprietary algorhythm indicates the Chiefs statistically will win 3-0 or by some other multiple of 3-0 like 21-7 or 45-15. Again please don’t waste your time arguing with this just because your too stupid to understand math- it’s a formula, not up for debate. Agreed, Reid & Co. will not take the Pats lightly and know what the Pats are as a team.

For me, Brady's comments were more directed towards the nah sayers around the nation, both national and local. And there have been many.

A same part of me thinks, the Pats on some level have kind of been playing possum, playing to pace themselves and be healthy in the playoffs.

They tried this when they were more banged up in 2015, exchanging health for reduce play and lost to Miami in the last game of the season.

I may be wrong, but they might have paced themselves only to crank it up in the playoffs.
