This isnt a playoff team...

Defense just sucks too ****in' much.

No pass rush, safeties can't cover over the top, LB's are slow.

The defense takes all of the wind out of this team's sails.

Yeah it's the turnovers that's been uncharacteristic. KC was 8th in the NFL in turnover differential at +6 last season, in 2019 they were tied for 7th at +8, in 2018 they were 6th at +9.

This season so far, they're at -7. The only team that's worse is Jacksonville at -10.

Teams making us run more plays is leading to turnovers.

The Mahomes contract has not even kicked in yet. That's the scary thing. The roster was pretty much garbage in 2018 even when he was still on the rookie contract. Right now he still has the cap hit of a 5th year option in the rookie contract. Front office has failed pretty bad with draft picks and other acquisitions, especially on defense.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings...rback/cap-hit/

The big question is whether Veach and his staff can start having more luck with draft picks and so forth as they move forward.

I think the nerd squad summed it up. They haven't adjusted to deep safety coverage, Tyrann mattheiu and others in the defensive core have lost a step and the lower end starters are terrible. Honestly it felt like they were on the verge of being exposed a lot last year and were a very unconvincing 14-2. The defense needs to keep chris jones, lose the rest of the core and hopefully get lucky in the draft. For this year they need to win the next 3 in a row (all very winnable) to get the swag back.

Goes way beyond turnovers.. Clearly the D has taken a step back. Veach has done a terrible job acquiring talent on that side of the ball. I know the homers will be mad I said anything negative about the Chiefs but its the truth.

Exactly the case. They have 1 player on the DL worth a shit, and he's playing out of position. Zero LB"s and maybe 2 or 3 secondary guys.

True, but they're going nowhere this year.

Are they, though? I mean, yes, by definition they are winnable, but I’m not comfortable putting a W beside any game on the schedule at this point. Our defense is just so bad, all of these teams have weapons that we can’t match up with.

WFT- both of their back are good pass catchers (Gibson played WR in college) and Scary Terry should feast on our joke of a secondary.

TEN- Can you picture what AJ Brown is going to do on crossing routes? Plus, it seems this is the year to take your revenge pound of flesh from us (Chargers, Bills)

NYG- The closest to a predictable win, but Saquon Barkley (if healthy) could catch 10 balls for 150 against our LBs.

I think we beat the Giants, lose to the Titans and the game against WFT is a toss up that I guess I’ll give to us since we have such an advantage at the QB position. So, 4-4 At basically the halfway point, which makes sense since this looks very much like a 9-8/8-9 football team

So what other playmakers do you have in mind? Hardman? He drops everything that is thrown at him.

This team is cooked, way too many years of mediocre to bad drafting has caught up with us. Our WRs outside of Hill are trash, our Safeties are trash, our LBs are trash, RBs are trash, we have one decent DL who shows up occasionally. Outside of Sneed we haven't drafted a defensive player worth a shit in a long time.

Look at 2018, has not produced anything on the D side:
Rnd 2 Speaks
Rnd 3 Nnandi
Rnd 3 O'Daniel
Rnd 4 Watts
Rnd 6 Tremon Smith
Rnd 6 Kahlil Mckenzie

I thought we drafted McKenzie to play o line? Or maybe he was an o lineman we were converting to defense? Either way, he sucked as does everyone else on that list.
