What is there to do in Chicago?
I'm in Chicago this week for Symantec Enterprise Vault training. Actually I'm in Oak Brook, but it's a suburb of Chicago...about 30-45 mins West of downtown.
I'd don't like driving in cities too much (ok, I'm not a good driver in cities) but would like to site see a little bit since I'm here. I will be going to Naperville to meet and eat dinner with my Tigerdirect/Global Computers rep tomorrow. I'll have most of Friday afternoon to go site seeing and was wondering what you all would recommend? Thanks in advance |

Nothing. It's a boring little town.

I love the museum of science and industry. The U-boat and automation exhibit are awesome.
Sidenote I am from the Chicagoland area and I am posting right now from Mexico City, Mexico. Anyone know what to do here besides avoiding being stabbed? SOmetimes when clients come into town our company takes them to an adult arcade in the Woodfield mall area. Supposed to be pretty cool but I have not been. |

I don't know where it is exactly, but what about going to Buddy Guy's House of Blues for some music? If you don't want pizza every night, find a place where you can enjoy some sausage. Those central Europeans make some good stuff.

Bulls games are always a good time, I know they arent doing too great this year, but the atmosphere is always awesome (they play at home friday night) Also, if you are going to be in Naperville, it has a pretty decent nightlife for a suburb, I usually head down there on the weekends when I cant make it to the city.. Also the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium are pretty sweet

Take the train into town and walk the Mag Mile....plenty of things to do downtown in Chicago. You should eat at the Billy Goat Tavern...it's the place that Saturday Night Live fashioned their "Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger" skit. You can go to the top of the Hancock Building, eat at the Cheesecake Factory, have some deep dish pizza (Giordano's etc, ) stop at the Hershey's store and pick up way too much chocolate. Find your way to Wrigley Field....Soldier Field or even Centennial Park. And if you have a daughter stop and buy her something at the American Girl store downtown.

I've driven in every major city in the U.S. and Chicago was by far the scariest in terms of nearly being killed multiple times.

Don't rent a car from enterprise. Eat a Buona Beef sandwich. It is the best fast food I think I have ever tasted. Visit Cabela's. That store is pimp. I didn't get to see much while I was there, but the place is pretty cool. If I could go again, I'd go downtown, to a baseball game, and down to the lake. I might also go to the Chicago Board of Trade just to see it once. |
