Thomas Caps 100Th Sack With Gifts

When Kansas City linebacker Derrick Thomas became the 15th NFL player to record 100 sacks, in a game against Denver last weekend, he had to wrestle the keepsake ball away from Bronco quarterback John Elway.

"He wouldn't give it to me," Thomas said. "I said, `John, come on, that's 100. Give me the ball."

Elway finally relented.

After the Chiefs' 24-22 victory, Thomas presented teammates with "100 Sacks" caps.

"The hats had been sitting around for a few weeks," said Thomas, who has been battling a torn left triceps all season. "They were starting to collect spider webs."

This is the one clip I would have really liked to have found - DT beating a HOF LT and sacking a HOF QB.

Alas, I could only find it in EXTREMELY low resolution. It looked like crap.

I attended that game in person and remember Elway laying flat on his back with the ball clutched to his chest after the sack. When DT grabbed the ball, you could see Elway pull back on the ball as if he was toying with DT in not handing the ball over to DT.

And it's a crying shame that one of the best LB's in the history of the game hasn't made it into the Hall yet. It's been 10 long years since his death and multiple first time ballets made it in front of DT. NOW it's Derricks turn and NONE of the first time canidates should make it through unless DT's gets his first. NO EXCUSES!!!

DT needs to get in, but no way he deserves to get in at the expense of Smith and Woodson

I have the picture of him laying on Elway and reaching for the ball. I should break it out of the frame and scan it.
