It's All LJ's Fault!!!

No joke. I just finished watching the game again. I swear LJ has the entire offense moving in 1st gear. Sure, there are many times the OL doesn't hold a block more than 2 seconds, but FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD! LJ puts his head down and looks for a spot to lay down. Many times a quicker back could bounce it outside. Other times there's a quick opening and LJ stands there and waits for it to close before starting his run. On the few plays Charles was in, immediately he gained 15 yards. Albert was guilty of holding AFTER he was already thru the hole! That's because Albert's timing is off due to LJ's slow ass!

I petitioned for LJ to sit last week and now I'm confident that he truly is our biggest liability. Just like Thigpen was able to run around the line last year, we need a RB that can do the same.

Weak OL + slow RB with no vision = disaster.

We never should have drafted LJ to scare Priest into camp in the first place.

I've criticized LJ as harshly as anyone, but how you 1. revisit that game period and then 2. come away with the thread title is pretty ****ing amazing.

Charles and Battle/Savage should be the starters IMO. I hate to say it, but LJ is done. He doesnt care anymore.

Well, I dunno. I have the NFL rewind and I gotta do something with it. But I'm totally serious. LJ is running right up the asses of the OL regardless if there's a hole or not. We MUST put someone in that can bounce it outside or at least keep their head up to look for a hole.

You're reeruned.

When LJ actually gets a decent hole he is through it for a positive gain. There's nothing he can do with two guys in his face right after he gets the handoff.

I looked at the game a little last night and for the most part he made the most of what he had. There were a couple plays where he missed a hole, but only a couple. And he had a very nice cutback ran for a 14-yard gain where he made a guy miss.

Charles usually has a lot more space to work with due to the fact he is getting the ball in passing situations on draws. He did have one little run where he made a couple guys miss in the backfield. His called back TD run was also impressive.

But you are painting a picture that LJ is some huge problem and Charles is the answer, and it is not true.

Fer crissakes, I saw LJ take a pitch yesterday, had a nice lane opening up on the right side and was headed through it. But Niswanger blew a block on a linebacker so horribly at the line that the LB just sped through it and ran into LJ right after he got the pitch.

He has no chance when crap like that happens. And it has happened twice in three games now. Niswanger couldn't block Ray Lewis on a similar play.

I'm not going to say LJ is perfect but when he gets a hole he is fine. There are a lot of good running backs around the league struggling right now. LJ is no different.

This was a team effort and the team sucks. This organization was left in a horrible hole from the Herm/CP days and its going to take some time to sort out. I think we should have looked more into solving our offensive line problems. That is our biggest problem. They can't run block or pass block, but they have collecting their paychecks down pat.

I was screaming at the television for this very reason. I don't know how many times I called "unplanned draw play by Johnson". That bastard was so slow to the line...I mean, it really was remarkable. All that said, I don't think he necessarily costs us that one, a severe talent deficit and cohesion problem that ran across the whole damn board cost us that game.

I'm certainly not suggesting the line did anything to stop that omnipresent, blitz showcase that was going on, but he was skirting around the backfield the second he had the ball. Larry's only benefit I see at this point is his size, and if he's not going to use it.....hasta luego amigo, happy trails to you. Give someone the ball who's gonna try damnit, I still don't know how he got a spot on this roster...

I agree that we need a RB with the ability to quickly bounce outside, but it's not LJ's fault that the line cannot open a hole for anyone with his type of running style.

LJ spends more time on his back than a hooker on Valentine's Day.

He stops moving the second contact is made. I've never seen a RB as quick to lay down after contact as LJ is.

Its all well and good that LJ needs a hole made by the line but a faster and more agile RB is what the team needs. I will go as far as to say that if LJ stopped looking to avoid contact and instead put his shoulder down and mowed over a few defenders... there would not be talk about how he does not care and needs to be replaced.

I believe LJ is still a starting RB in this league... just not on this team.
