Nick Jacobs: Defense Roster and Team Needs
http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2014/1...ee-agency-2014
In the second half of our breakdown, we take a look at the defensive side of the football for the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a strength for the first nine games of the season, but came crashing down in the second half of Wild Card Weekend. Quote:

![]() Additionally, if Tyson was a viable 3 tech, he'd be ****ing starting in subs instead of Allen Bailey.

That is a lot of defensive needs.

I look at our DB depth and I want to vomit. Our dominant pass rush through the first part of the season hid the secondary's deficiencies for a handful of games but towards the end of the season they were exposed horribly.
If we had a solid secondary we could very well be playing football still. |

I think the San Diego game showed that we can do a lot more substituting to keep the defense fresh. Poe was non-existent in the second half of the season. I actually saw enough improvement out of Jackson to bring him back, but only at a great discount. I think the most we could cut though would be 20%. Not enough. Bailey cannot be counted on against the run.
Kendrick Lewis should retire. Sutton needs to prove this year he can make the adjustments that other teams made with his defense.

we need athletic fast LBers that can play the pass.
best defenses in the league have multiple fast freak LBers that just camp the middle. Enough of this sliding a SS down in the box bullshit |

Personally, I'd rather just see us switch to a 4-3 full time, and just vary up the looks by using the stack, over, and under sets. They could rush Houston as the SAM in 4-3 under looks, and move him next to Hali as a Wide 9 in over looks if they wanted to get exotic.
I also think that as Tamba's speed wanes he is better off the less he's in coverage.
