IMO, this place took a turn for the worse about 2009 or so. This past off season saw an influx of reeruns as well.

What has changed you ask? More people sling insults and there is an overall lack of respect. This place was founded on respect and was tied to worthy causes like the 37-Forever Foundation, so naturally the respect the factor was higher with so many folks involved in a cause.

Times change - so did this place. It's still fun, but the turd / respect ratio is way off.

I feel like the majority of the people around here have gone full Billay. Never go full Billay.

Are other message boards like this? Or is CP "special" in this kind of way?

I'm a member on one board where the political threads are mixed in with everything else and know to stay the hell out of those threads.

I've been on this board since 2002, so that's 11 years. Don't know if that makes me an "old timer" or not. Probably not. But I'm definitely a vet.

I like this board because it's not full of rose colored glass kool aid drinkers. There's lots of realists. You get the non-sugar coated version of stuff here.

Plus there's enough gallows humor when times are bad that we can all enjoy each others misery.

The only nastiness I've ever had to put up with is in the DC section. It's gotten worse exponentially, soiled mostly by serial posters who troll there and never have anything at all to say about football. I can see them hunkered down in their mom's basement, sitting on a crate of MRE's with a AR-15 in one hand, and tapping on a keyboard with the other hand. But hey, as they say in the Sonic commercial "If you can't stand the heat, avoid Aruba." I think there's a lot of wisdom in that.

Also, It's seldom that a story that affects the Chiefs doesn't appear here either first, or very quickly. So for me, the CP is an invaluable source of Chiefs info, unfiltered and usually spot on.

Plus a lot of the crazy bastards on here make me laugh just about every day.

So I like it.
