Looks like she did take place in multiple pacific battles during World War II

Battle of Mindoro looks like was the first where She took losses. 1 Kamikaze got through and hit her flight deck. Manila Bay had 14 men killed and 52 wounded, but by 10 January she resumed full duty in support of the Lingayen Gulf operations.

It looks like The United States made a lot of these escort carriers. Manila Bay was one of them.

I'm going to have to look up where Savo Island is. Who named these ships anyway? I think they were naming them after Senators' hometowns or something.

Oh that one was a bit of a black eye for the USA in the Guadalcanal campaign.
We lost four ships and slowed up the reinforcements and supplies to the Marines on Guadalcanal. Was mentioned in The Pacific. The Marines set resting after long battles and watched the Battle of Savo Island's and seeing the ships at night ablaze.
