Again, I have no idea where this is coming from. I haven't seen anyone come even close to saying anything like this. This is where the conversation goes off the rails and into "Smith-baters suck" and back and forth. Let's not do that.

You want to talk about that play for 2 more days? Great, let's do that. But lets not let this spiral down into Count Zarth / Inmen level of discourse.

Yes. What does that have to do with this particular discussion we are having now?

Had he made plays earlier in the game, said last 2 minute drive where he was "clutch", wouldn't have had to happen.

Same in the 9er game. and the bronco game. See, games the Chiefs lost because plays weren't made.
Talk about the other plays that could've lead to TDs that weren't made by some of the best playmakers at the wideout position in the league. Hemmingway had 1 guy to beat but didn't even get the chance to because he lost the chance to do so by not catching a routine ball that a 5 year old could make. Bowe drops one that the same 5 year old could make and Jenkins had no field awareness and lost the chance to score on a sure TD. Are these plays that could've put the game away as well, or nah? I'm guessing nah, since it wasn't Alex who failed on these plays. The only play that could've put the game away and wouldn't have lead to the comeback drive was the one you keep harping on. We get it, it wasn't a pretty win but there was more than 1 culprit that made it a closer game than it should've been.

We can't just talk about said play, some have to bring up waht he did later in the game like it dismisses or makes it ok that this play happened.

Winning is a powerful deodorant I guess.

And for the record, thats just 1 still shot. Are we to believe that doesn't happen multiple times throughout a football game?

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

OTWP has always been one to bring this up, but just because said QB made plays to win games late doesn't excuse him not making plays earlier. I'd imagine said Qb would tell you the same.

"If I were better early, we wouldn't have had to had a game winning drive".

Yes, he would have. Everyone always expects themselves to play perfectly. I on the other hand don't expect perfect games from anyone. As a fan, I don't expect perfect play, I just expect perfect effort.

All I know is the WR group has consistently let him down. 3 glaring opportunities in the SD game would have changed the entire scope of the game and we would have won big with great numbers out of the QB had they simply caught the ball or stayed in bounds.

I also know Smith has been watching opposing team's receivers leap high in the air and beat defenders to make big plays at big moments in the game, and our receivers simply don't do that. Why should he have any confidence in his WR to take a shot like that?

So those plays where Smith has thrown ball behind WR's where they've made plays to catch the ball and gain YAC don't instill confidence?

I know what he is. And what is - IS.

He's not going anywhere. He's a conservative game manager with great scrambling ability. He's good in the short game, great QB IQ, holds the ball too long, doesn't throw deep.

He isn't going anywhere until Andy goes somewhere. Since I can't change that we need to draft playmakers at WR than can turn a 5 yard out into a 20 or 40 yard gain. Alex isn't going to throw it 40 yards so we need playmakers.

He also needs a better than average O line. He can scramble fine and avoid the rush right now. We all see that. But if we want him to actually take a slight risk every now and again he needs time for our SLOTH ASSED WR's to get blatantly and obviously open...
