Andy Reid - Unprepared team for Titans and Raiders
John Dorsey - Failure to draft or sign a legit #1 WR
Injuries - Loss of two pro-bowl team leaders

Why are people criticizing Dorsey for not bringing in a no.1 WR? He was that close to signing the top FA WR in Sanders. At the end of the day, he thought he'd rather give the chance to our youngsters than signing a retread WR just for the sake of it. As for the draft, he picked in the 1st round what he thought was the BPA and that's exactly what you must do and who knows if Ford will be a better player than Benjamin. And in the 3rd round, he picked a CB (Gaines) who has probably been better than any WR drafted after him. Are you going to blame Dorsey for that?

If your vote went to O line or WR it should have gone to Dorsey.

It didn't have to be like this...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I guess I don't understand the obsession with the oline and WRs.

As long as Alex Smith is the QB, the oline is not going to affect our ability to win. The only way we can win is through a dominant defense and running game. Sorry to break it to people, but it's true. I would much rather build around a different QB. But I'm a little confused about why people think it makes that much of an appreciable difference if we suddenly start stacking this offense with a bunch of weapons that Smith is going to underutilize.

I completely disagree.

Ford has shown flashes during his time on the field. IMO, they screwed him just as they screwed Fisher. I blame the coaching staff, not Dorsey.

Dorsey also plucked good players off practice squads and signed players like Mauga, who isn't a "special" player but good depth that unfortunately was forced to start for most of the season. Without guys like him, Fleming, Ron Parker, Smith, etc., this defense would have been abysmal.

Ford's true value will noticeable next year when, when Hali's gone. He's done a great job in with third rounders (Gaines and Davis) a good job with 4th rounders (DAT & Nico Johnson, who now starts for the playoff Bengals) and so on.

What truly sucks is that an undrafted free agent player like Wilson stands on the sidelines for 13 weeks but once he's given a chance, proves that he should have been starting all season long.

Again, Andy Reid is a bozo.

This.

And if you're going to blame Dorsey, blame the fatass who brought him in and sold the deal.

I totally agree.... Just poor coaching and poor talent awareness..

Reid's system is hard to learn and Wilson is a UDFA rookie. It's no surprise he didn't see the field.

Wow. So we have a hard to learn system that produces hardly any points and no TD's to wide receivers. Sounds like a really great system. **** you Reid.

It's football, not rocket science.

Reid doesn't have a different route tree than anyone else in the NFL.

It's just another example of poor talent evaluation on the coaching staff's part or maybe, Reid just didn't trust him because he was a rookie (which IMO, is the more likely scenario).

This, coupled with treating Stephenson like a red-headed step-child in favor of McGlynn was dumb beyond belief. Does anyone actually believe that Stephenson's play dropped off the cliff because he missed the first four games of the season? That he somehow became worse than McGlynn or Linkenbach or Harris, after filling in admirably for Albert last year? If they weren't going to play him, cut him or trade him for a 7th.

What a waste of a season for him.

Excellent post. While i still think dorsey is obsessed with speed, its impossible to argue with the results, hes brought in dozens of solid players. But i especially agree with the Albert Wilson part. Its not only just him either. DAT got what 2 jet sweeps a game for most of this season? they didn't move around, or bench any lineman. Kelce playing 25% of the snaps earlier in the season. How long did it take for Schwartz to crack the lineup last year? Kush looked good in the preseason, no chance given at a guard spot?

Sutton has done a great job with the talent he has, but he's just as guilty as reid in that regard. Bailey showed flashes last year, and sat on the bench. Parker and Abdullah (two solid players) both sat on the bench last year behind lewis and demps. Vickerson, and Walker are both proven vets who are both capable of giving poe a breather and actually making plays while hes out, and he hardly uses either. Mays is clearly a much better run stopper than Mauga and JMJ, and he took forever to get him back into the defense.
