White Sox_Orioles will play a game with no fans allowed tomorrow
First time in MLB history. Wow
With riots continuing on the streets of Baltimore, the Orioles' scheduled home game against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday has been postponed. The Orioles later announced that Wednesday's game will be played at Camden Yards but will be closed to the public. They provided the full details of the schedule changes, including makeup dates for the postponements Monday and Tuesday, via a press release: Orioles announcement regarding schedule changes pic.twitter.com/nwCDyqjzWs Baltimore Orioles (@Orioles) April 28, 2015 MLB Communications confirmed the news and provided a comment from commissioner Rob Manfred: In light of ongoing circumstances in Baltimore, here are schedule alterations in addition to tonight's postponement: pic.twitter.com/OMvQ7y32y0 MLB Communications (@MLB_PR) April 28, 2015 Quotes from Commissioner Manfred regarding the circumstances in Baltimore: pic.twitter.com/UFTD3NZjqD MLB Communications (@MLB_PR) April 28, 2015 According to the Orioles' official Twitter account, the decision for Tuesday's game was made after consulting officials with knowledge of the ongoing situation: After consultation with MLB & state & local officials, tonights game between the Orioles & the White Sox at Oriole Park has been postponed. Baltimore Orioles (@Orioles) April 28, 2015 David Just of the Chicago Sun-Times reported it will be the first game in MLB history played without fan admittance. Monday's contest between the Orioles and White Sox at Oriole Park was also postponed, and Manfred commented on the steps the league was taking to solve the issue after the postponement, per The Associated Press and ESPN.com. "At this point we're looking at every possible alternative in terms of completing the schedule in a timely way and making sure the games are played in a security situation that is safe for the fans. We're going to look at every alternative at this point," he said. The O's were scheduled to host the Sox on Wednesday, followed by a three-game home series against the Tampa Bay Rays starting Friday. The news of the schedule change for Wednesday comes after ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reported earlier Tuesday that Major League Baseball was exploring options to make those games happen: #Orioles-#WhiteSox game tonight has been postponed. Discussions continue on options for tomorrow's game & the weekend series with the #Rays Jayson Stark (@jaysonst) April 28, 2015 Right now, the focus in Baltimore is on public safety, which is certainly understandable. Until the protests subside, it is unlikely any baseball will be played in the city. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...aign=editorial |

Baltimore will break a record tomorrow. The all-time record for lowest paid attendance was 6, in 1882

My first thought is that if riots are still going on when this game is being played, there's very little chance that people don't find a way to get in.

They'll still probably draw better than Tampa Bay.

Hopefully the city is rightly embarrassed by the stadium having to sit empty.

The MLB could make a HUGE public relations windfall by inviting in for FREE, all the Baltimore kids from the projects as goodwill. All have to be under 18

They can't do that. If there are any fans in the stadium, then they need cops, and part of the reason why they are closing the game to the public is because Baltimore doesn't want to spare any police.
