Roster Updates (Watts and LDT to IR, Zombo signed)
The Chiefs announced a couple of significant roster moves Tuesday afternoon, placing starting guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif as well as reserve safety Armani Watts on injured reserve while signing veteran free agent outside linebacker Frank Zombo to the 53-man roster. The team also announced the movement of undrafted rookie linebacker Rob McCray to a designation of Practice Squad/Injured.
The move of Duvernay-Tardif to injured reserve doesn't come as a big surprise after he suffered a fractured fibula in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but placing Watts on injured reserve was unexpected and another unneeded blow to a safety position already decimated by injury. Watts, who was a fourth-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2018 NFL Draft, left Sunday's win over the Jaguars with a groin injury. Both players will be eligible to return off of injured reserve in eight weeks, although the Chiefs are only allowed by league rules to bring two players per season off injured reserve, and one of them could be safety Daniel Sorensen, who has been out since the preseason following knee surgery. https://247sports.com/nfl/kansas-cit...mbo-123110807/ |

We won't see him until after the bye.
Maybe They have to bite the bullet, take the cap hit and cut his ass this offseason. His heart's not in it. The fact that Reid made a specific point to mention how badly he wants to be here when talking about his recovery kinda tells me that everyone in that coach's suite has asked themselves just how badly Eric Berry wants to be here. Because otherwise "football player wants to play football" kinda goes without saying, right?

I'm sick of him lumbering around the Chiefs sideline looking like a hobo outside of Arrowhead begging for free tickets. Tell him to suit up or get the **** out and stay home.

Why not? He came back and played his ass off for a new contract. Not hard to believe he wouldn't give as much of a shit now that he's got a contract we can't get out of.

So ... day to day ... but EB's keeping them informed about "how he feels" ... ok ...
That means that they're talking to him every day, right? "How you feeling today, EB?" "Oh ... you know. It's cool." "Cool as in cool? Or cool as in ... what, exactly?" "It's all cool man." "So, do you feel like you can practice today?" "Nah, man. It's cool. I'm cool." "Coach Reid, press conference in 15 minutes. Eric's still day to day." FAX |

The NFL is always a marathon. When you play someone is just as important as who you play.
The best KC can hope for is that the injury bug has bit them early in the year and they will slowly get healthier as the year goes on. As far as Eric Berry is concerned, it's just best to assume he isn't going to play this year and if he does play - consider it a bonus.
