Saccoppoo... he was a bright, witty dude.

I disagreed with him constantly... mostly because I wanted a QB that wasn’t a blatant stalemate or guaranteed failure from my perspective. He had a knack for hoggin’ for fatties and always seemed to have the best intel on some hidden diamonds buried in the lipids from Utah or whatever. I usually just let him rant and disagreed to myself because that dude, regardless of how much I disagreed with him that we needed all these fatties in early rounds, he could freaking spit his case and wipe the floor with someone like me who just wanted a QB, for the dude knew 100x more about draft prospects than I ever did or ever will...and he’d make me look stupid. The very few times I ever did rack up the courage to step to him on that, he’d rip me apart and we’d somehow end up talking about dates with hot chicks that we had been on and if and how we scored with them. Dude was funny.

Now that I know about Mahomes, and if I would have known about him back then, I probably wouldn’t have disagreed with him so adamantly about his insistence that we burn every early round pick we’d have on fatties.

I wonder what he’d think of this Mahomes era? Ya see, that’s what makes me the most sad about these guys who died before the start of the Mahomes era. I mean, even if you die between now and our next Super Bowl win, at least you were able to experience this initial and hopefully ongoing wave of Mahomania!!! The most exciting phase we’ve had, presumably since our last SB win decades ago. I mean, the National media has freaking caught on and won’t let go and it’s awesome! Finally, some real hype!! May see some Chiefs jerseys around in the most unexpected of places starting now... And the dude is ours, for the long term future. The Chiefs could be cool in the future...on a national (not just primarily regional) level...because this Mahomes cat. Like Green Bay. Green Bay has always received a pretty nice amount of national attention. It’s always been cool for the random newcomer NFL fan from Wyoming to choose the Packers to root for... and it’s not because of their geographical location. Why would the national media give a shit about Green Bay, the location? No, it’s because the franchise got a spark in the Lombardi/Starr era and they have continued to do things right and maintain winning methods/standards throughout the Favre and now Rodgers era. Maybe this is the start of the huge spark we have needed all these years that will be crucial in maintaining a winning/dominant franchise for the long-term future? Maybe it’s a reallllllly perfect time to become a Chiefs fan and eventually, that will become common knowledge and we will see Mahomes/Kelce/etc. jerseys atop the top seller list opposed to Brady. (I welcome the bandwagoners with open arms, considering they like the Chiefs and not just one player on the team).

Anyways, a lot of great Chiefs fans had to miss the entirety of this wave and that’s unfortunate. Reading these names makes me feel lucky that I was able to experience at least some of it. Noone knows when cancer or tragedy can strike whoever... while there are more important things in life than our Chiefs fandom (for most of us) dying with the assurance that this often times frustrating franchise that we love dearly is going in the right direction would be, at the very least, a happy thought.

It still blows my mind that I wrote one of Saccs favorite songs before he passed. He was a genuine dude that I loved talking to about music.

Expansive and powerful. This is post rock, alt metal brilliance. I think that I’ve listened to this song more than any other song over the past two years. (Checks the play count – yep – not even close.) This song just speaks to me. It lightly touches when it needs to, it slams into you like a locomotive when you need it most and then brings you back into it’s dark embrace. The vocals (yes, real vocals in a metal song!!!) are amazing as is the stellar musicianship. Production is superb. Everything is exactly where it should be moment it needs to be. -Drew Rigby (Saccoppoo)

Isn’t he that hipster soccer fan who was outed sporting a Patriots hoodie?! Forgot about that guy. I think every time he replied to me it was something like, “eww,” “gross,” or “weird.”
