It feels like every "hot" QB this decade basically comes out on fire, everyone says they're going to own the league the next decade, and within 3-4 years they're struggling on a struggling team.

When were Dak and Marriota ever hot QB's?

Mahomes has skills that can lift a team, unlike Prescott, but he might have been put in the best situation in league history. The only one I can think who was put in a similar circumstance was Steve Young, but I don't think that any of his secondary receivers or TEs are as good as Watkins and Kelce, and defenses could actually play defense then.

Who in particular?

RGIII was kneecapped
Luck had the shoulder rehab from hell, and may still round out with time and a better squad around him.
Watson was tossing up wounded ducks that Hopkins kept pulling out of the fire on the back end until his leg exploded.
Three fast starters hobbled by injury, and Watson returning to the mean for his risky tendencies.
Dak was never anything more than the continuation of Romo's late good fortune of an overpowering O-line giving him all the time in the world.

Who else was supposed to take the world by storm, but didn't without explanation?

Rogers has provided plenty of fireworks, when he's not hampered by injury [sensing a trend].

Winston has great weapons, but is realiably a knucklehead.

Maybe Cam, . . . he's got one SB trip already under his belt, and they're regaining their stride.

Part of our Mahomes joy needs to come with a constant realization of how rare it is. Mahomes ceiling is his health. That is IT.

Mahomes, in one sense, plays like the position should be played. Your rational mind says 'they pay these guys millions, you'd think they could all be as aware, poised, strong and accurate as Patty-boy.' But the reality is much more messy. Brady misses tons of open passes. Rapist goes into extended funks with regularity. They bounce back, but they aren't consistently on point like Mahomes is displaying, even in his early career.

Mahomes has the potential to be a Jordan/Gretzky type, if he stays healthy. That doesn't come along often. It may not have come around yet in the NFL.

I didn't watch much of the MNF game last night. What I did see is that Prescott rarely scans the field and tends to lock on his primary receiver. That throw into double coverage was horrible. Prescott never looked anywhere else...

I think Dak is being ruined by bad coaching. The league adjusted to him and now Garrett and his staff have no answer.

Agreed. That and the fact that he's just not that accurate of a passer.

Cowboys have a fairly talented team overall. Need a QB and new head coach.
