You can feel that way, but I sure as hell hope it is us. We need a true #1 corner who can line up against the WR's in our conference. I've seen a few responses about Ward being compared to Bradberry but they aren't in the same league. Ward made Jamar Chase look like Randy Moss...

3rd or a 4th?
I'm not interested unless the Giants are picking up A LOT of his salary. |

I'm not sure of a mechanism whereby a team 'retains' salary on NFL contracts.
Could exist, but I've never heard of it. But ultimately the cap figure doesn't bother me as much as the fact that I'm just not sure he's very good anymore. He's never been terribly athletic; more of a physical CB even coming out of college (when I did like him - pretty sure I took him in the CP Mock). Guys that are right on the border of NFL baseline athleticism don't slowly age out - they just hit a wall. Last year looked like he may have done precisely that. If I thought he could play at the same level as Ward last year, I wouldn't mind bringing him in at his figure (after the bonus money hits the Giants cap he'd be here at around $13 million that I'd imagine he'd be open to restructuring a tick). I just don't think he can do that anymore. He feels more like that really shitty corner we signed away from Atlanta a few years back who got torched by the Colts in the comeback game (Robinson?). He just seems washed.

I think he has a little left in the tank, but probably not much.

Gives him more leverage than they'd likely want to give him, though. At that point he ends up with a de facto NTC.

We’re legit only talking about one of our 7ths for a 1 year rental of a 29year old cb, right?
No way we’re talking about a 3rd or 4th. Maybe a future 4th or 5th or something…and we don’t have a 5th or 6th. If I’m giving up a 4th for Bradberry, I’m needing a 5th or 6th back. |

Amari Cooper went for a 5th and 6th rd swap. Looking at that deal as the baseline. We don’t have a 5th and even though we have multiple 4’s I’d would like to keep them for a trade up.
We’ll see

#135 for Bradberry and #173. That's equal to a low 5th round pick for him.
Or #135 for Bradberry and #147. That's equal to a mid to low 6th round pick. |

I’m ok with that if they eat half the salary. |

At 5-7m for a year, it’s not bad at all.
He’s a good player…I’m just not interested in investing in players of his age to multi year commitments. |

Pass, he's not worth the money or the draft pick. Veach is reaching here. Let's not start getting cute with overpaid unathletic corners right before the draft. We already ousted an unathletic S and LB.
