Ronald Acuna
Mike Trout
Alex Rodriguez
Barry Bonds

You could not draw up a more impressive list than that. The raw talent is there.

Bobby Witt is very promising player, at least offensively but he is nowhere near those guys level. Below is each players 22 year old seasons

Bobby Witt Jr, .724 OPS, 1.1 WAR, -1.5 Defensive War
Ronald Acuna, .963 OPS, 5.5 WAR, 0.4 Defensive War
Mike Trout, .988 OPS, 10.7 WAR, 2.2 Defensive War
Barry Bonds, .821 OPS, 5.5 WAR, 0.4 Defensive War (his first season was 22 & 23 yrs old)
Alex Rodriguez, 1.045 OPS, 9.2 WAR, 1.7 Defensive War

There is a pretty big chasm between Witt and those players mentioned. The good news is Witt is undeniably a great athlete so there is no reason he couldn't be a plus defender if he flames out at SS and 3B.

I think as a hitter Witt Jr is more similar to a guy like Jeff Francoeur than the above players mentioned. Witt Jr appears to be a much better base stealer than Francoeur but Frenchy was plenty athletic and played defensive back in college I believe and had 22 SBs in his season with KC.

For the first time, a draft lottery will be used to set a portion of the draft order. The first six selections will be set via the lottery, with the remaining picks going to non-playoff teams in reverse order of winning percentage, followed by playoff teams in order of their postseason results. In addition, compensation picks will be distributed for players who did not sign from the 2022 MLB Draft.

Royals weren't trying to tank like the 4 teams ahead of them. We are a special kind of suck.

It would be funny if the Royals got the #1 pick.

If they were so lucky, I'm sure MLB would change the format all over again.
