i think this world cup went about as expected for the US, anything past the Ro16 was gravy. considering how they looked before the tourney, i wasn't entirely sure they'd even get out of the group.
honestly, i think the last time the US really "failed" at a world cup was losing to ghana in 2010. i guess you could argue blowing the win against portugal in 2014, but if you had been offered a draw before that match started, you would've taken it. |

Who is the best player in the world at this point? I think it’s gotta be Erling, Mbappe or Lewondowski right?
Not sure Messi and Ronaldo are anymore due to age

Son Hueng-Min is probably the most underrated to me. He’s such a great forward. Superb speed, ball skills and great shooting ability.
I wish the US had a forward like him

Imagine France with a healthy Benzema and Kante. They're very deep throughout the lineup.

I was just having that debate with another person. Best right now. Benzema is not even playing in the World Cup. Haaland / Mbappe / Neymar / Messi all having incredible years at club level.
Mbappe has 12 goals and 2 assisted in 13 games with PSG. Neymar is 11/9 and Messi is 7/10. Haaland is on a tear in the premier and benzema @ real.

Mbappe is probably the best with Messi not far behind. They can both score goals or create for others. |

When Messi was Mbappe’s age 12 years ago, he was already scoring 30+ goals in the liga with 10+ assists every year and winning every trophy with Barcelona. When he was 24 he score 50 league goals with 16 assists. (domestic stats not including champions league)
I think Mbappe is doing it at the world level (kinda like Pele did it) with much more talent around him. He may surpass Messi one day. Just too many great players right now to just point at one and say he’s the best right now. I can argue that Messi at 35 is the best because he is still doing what he is doing without being prime Messi.

I would have to go with Mbappe. Doesn't even look like he is trying. Just second nature to him.
