They didn't. They faced one team in the top 10 in KenPom (Gonzaga). It was a weak road and it made for a boring ending with 2 mediocre teams for them (Miami and SDSU) in the FF.

Kansas also faced one team in the final top 10 in KenPom in 2022 in the tournament (Villanova). Baylor faced two in 2021 (Houston and Gonzaga). Virginia only faced one in 2019 (Texas Tech).

I'm really not sure I understand your point. They can only control what they can control. They dominated teams at an almost unprecedented level in a bracket that had all of the 1 seeds gone at the end of the Sweet 16 and the 2 seeds eliminated after the Elite 8.

Just because they've been feast or famine for the better part of 30 years and there was a volume of upsets that was unprecedented in the bracket this year doesn't make their accomplishment(s) any less impressive.

5 titles in 25 years.

Holy shit.

I have no idea why a lot KU fans are hating on them. It’s that way outside of CP, too. Doesn’t make any sense.

UConn is ****ing ridiculous and I guess some people are insecure with it or something? That it takes away from schools that are good every year if you have a school that just shows up to the party every once in a while and dominates?

I find it amusing. If it was a Big 12 rival, I'm sure it would be more obnoxious because their fans would come out of the woodwork every few years when they actually made the tournament, just to win another natty.. or would go .500 in conference play just to squeak in and win a natty.

And I remember seeing this chart last year....

Hating on UConn is like Chiefs fan hating on the Rams or the Foreskins for winning a title.

You might be into something with the insecurity thing. Nobody is close to matching 5 in 24, so Duke, Kentucky, and UNC fans must be salty, too.

There were threads on the Indians and Tigers and White Sux boards when we went back to back WS in 14-15, complaining we are a mutt who comes out of the woodwork and does a lot of damage, then sinks away. While their teams are nearly always better but suck in the playoffs

It’s not that unusual

Duke won 5 in 24 years under Coach K, but nobody will ever match what John Wooden did at UCLA.

UConn is insane. No hate. Winning 5 titles in 24 years. Wow. And actually in the tournament era. Six games is a real gauntlet to get thru.

I know those 1940s titles when Whitey McWhite was the basketball star on campus and beat Milky Caucasian in a 2 game tourney mean alot to some schools. This is unprecedented from the huskies though.

The fact that UCONN has spread out 5 titles among 3 different coaches in 25 years might be the most impressive thing about their run here. They sort of remind me of the damn 2010's Giants. Missed the playoffs in 2011, 2013 and 2015, but a damn dynasty by default for nabbing 3 titles in five years.

UConn beat the ever-loving shit out of the teams that beat the supposed "great" teams.

Would it have been better if they struggled and eeked out a win or two against the teams that knocked off the blue bloods?
