Turns out it was likely a couple of 30 year old dickheads who went into court last week wearing ski masks to protect their identity. Doesn't matter much - they've been named.

They're talking about trying to coppice it and have it re-grow from the roots and stump. Man, that's an awfully tough thing to manage. I'll be a decade before you know if it's even nominally successful.

We have the Big Burr Oak out here in CoMo and it's actually quite a bit older than that one is; roughly 400 years old by most estimates. And I always get a bit nervous about the number of dipshits that go back there drinking and what not.

But hey, it's been struck by lightning several times and is still kicking. Moreover, Columbia might just lynch any asshole fool enough to try to cut it down.

But I have no idea what kind of surveillance they have out there. It's in the middle of nowhere but I have to imagine they have a camera on it.
