sometimes I wonder if there are players out there that would prefer to be on a team that doesn't make the playoffs, just so they don't have to work as long. I'm sure they get paid for post season, but there's gotta be some players that would rather go home

There was an article I read about this a while back. The extra pay for post season isn't worth it for some.

Ya I would have thought so. Plus I heard Cam Newton talk on his podcast that he didnt like going to the Superbowl that much because the season was so damn long as he said, something of that matter.

I actually looked into this during our last postseason run because I was curious. Players on the Super Bowl winning team stood to gain an additional $350,000ish in salary. That’s for the WC, Divisional, and CCG as well as the SB. Since there’s a two week gap between the CCG and SB, we’ll call it an extra 5 weeks of work - meaning about $70,000 per week assuming you win (the totals are lower if you lose).

Running some numbers, it looks like weekly game checks for a $1.2m salary would come out to just above $70,000 game checks. So if your base salary exceeds $1.2m, you are actually taking less money as you play into the postseason even if your team is winning.

Guys like Mahomes and Kelce go from making $3m and $1m per week to “only” $70k lol

Seemed the Dolphins had this thinking in Arrowhead in January!

This defense is already so wildly good. This addition and then Charles coming back it's gonna be absolutely nuts. Truly a shame that Watson got hurt because he was playing at a pro bowl level.

Uche trade to the Chiefs being billed as a "steal" in certain league circles:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...d=BingNewsSerp

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs continue to make big moves before the NFL trade deadline arrives, this time getting an absolute steal by adding New England Patriots edge rusher Josh Uche in exchange for just a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.

Chiefs fans love to see their undefeated squad get even stronger, and you love a front office that isn't content to simply coast. Brett Veach and company are not playing around in their pursuit of becoming the first NFL team to ever win three straight Super Bowls.

Of course, not everyone is happy. Fans around the rest of the NFL are beside themselves. That's nothing new to Chiefs fans though, and the salty tears only serve to make the trade even sweeter. Just check out some of the highlights from the replies to Adam Schefter's post about the news.

"can we stop giving the 7-0 chiefs players please"

"Chiefs 3 peat is scripted"

"How much help does Mahomes need"

"Just stop. They are already 7-0"

"No no no no no ways"

"Stop trading with these ------s PLEASE"

And that's just a few of them. It really is a sight to behold for Chiefs fans. The funny part is the Patriots were the last team to get the kind of heat that K.C. does. When you're too good for too long, the rest of the NFL world will want to see your team fail. And that's exactly what's happening here.

As for Uche's fit in the defense? It was clear he was being traded before Sunday, as he was a healthy inactive for the Patriots. He's served as a situational pass rusher in New England this year, and his 72.7 pass rush grade from PFF ranks 25th among 190 qualifying edge defenders. He's also not all that far removed from finishing 11th out of 203 with an 87.8 grade in 2022.

That’s as aesthetically pleasing as a sack gets. No sex pun.

He looks like 2019 Frank Clark when he has to move laterally. But has that Dee Ford burst. Me likely.
