Green was sloppy - he and the WRs are completely out of sync.
Alexander MUST step up - we cannot rely on Gonzo and rook Minnis as our entire passing attack!

He did better in the preseason.
Not giving up on him, just saying he needs to be more consistent. The whole offense was out of sync. It'll get better though.:) |

The one thing I was disappointed about was the accuracy on his long ball.
Otherwise, I still have confidence in him.

Stevieray - Those were the good points, but he threw a lot of balls today that could have been picked off and into double and triple teams. If he could have hit the WR's more then 3 x's yesterday (2 drops not his fault) we would have been a completely diff team.

I agree that Green wasn't as bad as everyone is making him out to have been. Granted, it took him a while to get going, and that needs to change. And, he wasn't able to hit a receiver all day, and that needs to change. But, I really liked what I saw from him when the pressure was on in the fourth quarter. What needed to happen was this:
- DA and Snoop need to make some plays. I'll grant them that they were playing aganist two top-flight CBs, and I'll admit that we needed to focus on the indise more in order to beat the Raiders. But, we DO need to be able to hit the wide outs once in a while. Green made a few bad throws, but there was a few catchable balls that weren't caught, too. - Get Ricks involved in the game earlier! ESPECIALLY when, as I just said, we're not going to be able to go outside as much b/c of the great CBs. They were doubling up on Gonzo so much...I can't believe we didn't even throw to Ricks until the fourth. That was dumb. - Get the RBs more involved. If we can't run the ball, the pass to them. Both Priest and T-Rich are billed as playmakers...so get them the damn ball. Richardson got it once in a while, but it needs to be more. In summary, Green wasn't perfect, but he wasn't all bad, either. And he played well under pressure at the end. Even in this game, which seemed to be an off day for him, I'd rather have him than Elvis. |

Just like the scouting reports says: Green hangs onto the ball way to long. He has only 20 starts (8-12) so he doesnt have a lot of experience yet.
He made a courageous 4th and 10 play that kept the Chiefs in the game. That was the highlight. Other than that, I thought he was every bit as good as Todd Collins. How did the Raiders acquire Rich Gannon again? What did the Chiefs give up for Trent Green??

I agree with you on getting Mikhael involved earlier. Yes he did miss a pass early on, but so did Tony G., Derrick A., and Priest H. Then he caught those two back to back passes. But the last play of the game, when Trent Green threw that pass to Mikhael, MR told me that he was a little scared to catch it because he saw one of the defenders out of the corner of his eye coming at him with his arm extended.
Shades of a clothesline hit.

Ethelyn,
I'm a big MR supporter. HOWEVER, this is the NFL. He's got to make the catch, even if he is going to get hit. Having said that, I think the pass was too high for him to catch it, but I'm a bit concerned when he says that he was afraid to catch it because of the on coming hit. |

I taped the game, and watched it again last night after the late game. I watched the second quarter twice.
Green overthrew or just poorly threw 14 passes. 14 uncatchable passes that were not examples of the qb getting rid of the ball by tossing it in the area of the reciever. 14 terrible passes. He only threw 30 something passes. His pass coverage was not to blame. DA's performance didn't help. Menace's inability to consistently get off the jam didn't help. Gonzo was wide open 5 times that I counted when the ball was thrown elsewhere. It was obvious Green is not completely comfortable with his targets yet. As bad as Girlbac could be you could tell he had a comfort zone with DA and Gonzo. Sometimes too comfortable. Green hasn't gotten that yet, and it may yet come. He just doesn't seem comfortable with his recievers yet, and that does take time. I do think that is a big part of his poor performance.

Not afraid to catch it, because he's caught balls in that situation before. I just think that since the time was running out, less than 5 seconds, and the man's arm coming toward his head, etc. I understand your point, but we live to catch another pass, without the risk of getting seriously injured.

That ball was thrown behind Ricks and he barely managed to get a hand on it. If he caught it, it would have been the craziest circus catch of the week. I don't fault him for it and I doubt he worried about actually getting hit during the play. People say things after the fact to justify their actions. We shouldn't trash the guy because we have the rare opportunity to hear his post-game reaction that he shared with his family. Ethelyn will eventually tire of it and be reluctant to share.

Which play are we talking about? The last one of the game? If so then Ricks has to go for the ball. Who knows maybe he gets a shot to the head which draws a flag and we get one more chance to score a TD or kick a FG. players have to lay it on the line on every play because any particular play could be the one that saves the game.
