His point is still just for the most part even though Meriweather isn't asked to play much...
Samuel and Hobbs are mid round picks that start and play well. |

We'll have a shot at a good Corner in this year's draft class.

What are you talking about? Herm can develop any young CB from the draft just look what he did with Marcus Maxey. |

Drafting well in the mid rounds is a crap shoot. Just like the Chiefs getting Allen in the fourth. Do you think that was some brilliant plan to get the best pass rusher later in the draft and fool everyone? Any player taken in the later rounds that turns out to be great is luck.

Focus on DB's for the purposes of this thread as the attributes that makes a quality starter are different than that of a DE. Primarily athleticism, speed, size, range, and the ability to read the QB and play in space. DB's stand out in college because they work in space and should be easier to evaluate considering their successes and mistakes are out in the open for all to see. |

Well then getting Benny Sapp as an undrafted free agent should be seen as a good move. He's not starter material, but he's a good player I wish we had more like him, he's quick to the ball, a great tackler with good motor.

Don't pay attention to what the Pats do. Herm and Carl have it all figured out. Here is how they plan to build a championship team.
1) Give the tailback a cap busting contract. 2) Hire incompetent friends to manage the player evaluation department. 3) Sign some 30 year old Tackles that were never all that good so your QBs can get hammered every game. 4) Get rid of one of the best offensive coordinators in the NFL and hope the line coach can magicaly take his place. 5) Don't resign your all-pro fullback and then announce to the entire NFL that you plan to run the ball all day. 6) Squander your 5th round pick on a kicker so you can cut him after three games. New England is to be pittied. They scored 38 points against the Giants. Don't they realize that you only do that in Arena football? 21 points is a lot! They should have saved some of those points for later. |
