How many do you think there were of each size, i was just suprised as early as we got there that we had no chance and the line was moving. How many entrances are there then you think? The side we were at there was 2, then i moved to the middle area by the statues and there were maybe 5 or 6 and it seemed within 15-20 min they were gone. I also noticed several people with 4 or 5 jerseys in each hand...i thought it was the first 20k people, not first 20k tickets? I think that peeved me more than anything then just people wearing their own jerseys. Gotta love the people that got the jerseys and then left with a few in their hand as well!

I overheard a staff member talking to someone saying there wasn't close to 20k jerseys available....makes me wonder if they ****ed it up...
Last night a couple friends of mine, Mrs. Blowfish and I went to the Royals game. Had a generally lousy time. Not because of the company, and Mrs. Blowfish was a trouper.

Here's why:

1. Because of the construction at the ball park, my friend who was in charge of getting the tix couldn't find an open ticket booth to buy pre-sale tickets at Kauffman. This is like two weeks ago. He buys them at ticket master instead, and we pay $15 more for the seats because of fees.

2. It was 38 degrees with a north wind gusting to 35mph.

3. The main reason we went was because it was Billy Butler jersey night. But the Royals only made 20,000 of them, and sold 39,000 seats. So only half of the fans got one. We showed up 90 minutes ahead of first pitch and didn't get one. The guys at the gate said they were all gone in the first 30 minutes, some people has lined up six hours early.

4. Basic beer now $7 each. Yikes.

5. Our seats were about six rows from the very top, and it was cold. Real cold. We were dressed like for a Chiefs game, but for some reason, cold weather for baseball always seems worse than Chiefs cold.

6. Royals get three lousy hits, get shut out 2-0, their second shut out in a row, fall out of first place.

We stayed until the 8th. My wife was cold, and so was I. Glad to get out of there.

I think I'll just watch the Royals on TV this year. That way if I start to get disappointed, I'll only have emotional, and not financial, investment. And I certainly won't use first 20,000 promotional items as any kind of motivation.
One of the ticket takers told my friend "You bought a ticket and parking, we don't owe you anything more if you can't get here early enough." Nice.

C'mon people, it's a Billy freakin' Butler t-shirt. He'll probably be out of the league in 3 years anyway...

What a dick that guy was to your friend....also it pissed me off seeing some fans showing off their jerseys as the last ones and rubbing it in all of our faces, i proceeded to yell and cuss at the db after that. I dont care it did not seem like 20k jerseys, i didnt see 1000 empty boxes anywhere..

Oh well, i'll get over it and get my royals blanket 2 weeks from now i guess

Pretty sad when your team is only down 2 runs and you can say: Game Over.

I still can't believe a team in the AL expects to be competitive with an offense this far below just major league averages....

It's a weird lineup.

Lot's of guys that "can" hit, but not many run producers.......

They have guys who should be backups at alot of spots or 2 guys where there should only be 1, stuff like that.

Like I'll roll through some of their guys..on a good team this is what these guys do...

Buck-backup
Gload-nice backup/pinch hitter
Pena-probably not even on a roster
Gathright/Dejesus-both of these guys should not be on the same ML roster and are likely best suited as 4th OF's
Teahen-still doesn't produce like a corner OF does and likely would sit on a good team

Some of the guys I'm not even listing are young guys we don't know much about, they just have guys who don't hit for their positions especially in the OF and at 1st.

What do you want me to say?

I'm sorry you can't have 2 of your 3 OF's hitting less than 20 HR's in the AL unless you got guys in the infield who produce at OF rate and the Royals don't. You will not win games in the AL that far below average production.
