It won't be for any of those reasons, it will be because they don't have the balls to do it. Neither Peterson nor Edwards feel they are on solid enough ground to draft a QB that high. That's the only reason.

They just sent one of their best two players packing. I think they have the nads if they think he is the guy.

Or they don't see much difference between him and Croyle

That would be more my take. And I have to believe there is a difference.

If that's the case, it's a pretty good illustration of why the Chiefs have never developed a QB.

I disagree with this. I think Herm has the balls to do it if he feels like Ryan is a franchise guy and is a significant upgrade over Croyle.

It's really this simple. The Chiefs could draft a Gholston or Long with the 5th pick and that'd help them become a solid to good squad that might someday become capable of going to multiple playoff runs... Great!!

But until they find that franchise QB, they'll always get beat by the Mannings & Bradys of the world.

If they feel like Ryan is one of the next top 5 QBs in the game a few years down the road, they have to take him. Period. Everything else is secondary by a mile to a top notch QB.

If they don't, then they should pass.

How many times do we have to go through this???

He may not be Manning or Brady, but he still projects to be a very very good QB. A team MUST have at least a solid QB to stabilize your team.

Think about:

Chiefs with Trent Green

Chiefs without Trent Green

If the Chiefs pass on Ryan, it's because they don't feel he's a franchise QB.

Just because he's the top QB in a weak class, doesn't make him the next Peyton Manning or Carson Palmer.

Save your TV.

Which ignores that if the Chiefs go with Croyle and he sucks this season, the team will have an even higher pick in next year's draft.

Get that brick out. And I don't mean that stupid foam brick that was sold in KC 15 years ago either. Get a real 5 pound brick and RUIN that tv.

Johnson's poor, bad-attitude and injury-riddled 2007 season foreshadowed that there was no way the Chiefs would be willing to pay Allen.
Damn you Larry! How dare you make him get behind the wheel and then instantly seek a fat contract?!
