I think the tornado is further away than it appears. It's not right on top of the grain bins, but it looks like it is. That's my theory.

I agree. I think they call that foreshortening. It's why fishermen hold their catch straight out from their bodies for photos.

This is my guess, it could be 1/2 mile away and look like it is on top of you.

I'd be more skeptical if it were submitted to something more than a no-name newspaper in the middle of Iowa.

The History Channel just did a show on Hypercanes!!! Those are wild. Apparently, if the ocean temperature increases to approximately 100 degrees fahrenheit or so due to, say, global warming or an asteroid strike, one could form bringing 500 mph winds and storm surges in excess of 60 feet that could wipe out entire states, throw house sized boulders through the air, and flatten forests as well as buildings, punch a hole in the stratosphere, and the debris would stay in the sky for months!!!

Just wait until that KC weather lady finds out about these.

I'm already sick of this picture. Since last friday I've had it sent to me too many times.

First it was the tornado that killed the boy scouts in Glencoe, ia. Then it was a picture taken by a woman in Orchard, Ia the same day. The next day it was taken outside Bloomfield, Ia and Monday it was taken just outside Des Moines.
