I just don't think the committee could justify that.
I don't really understand how Duke is a lock for a 2 seed though either right now. IMO, here should be the only "locks" for one and two seeds

Some combination of 1's and 2's:

UNC
Pitt
UCONN
Louisville
Memphis
Michigan State

Then, I think there is a group that is pretty much lumped together for the other 2 spots. They include:

Oklahoma
Duke
Kansas
Missouri
Villanova
Wake Forest

It's a crap shoot really. I've read people putting MU and KU anywhere from #2 to #4. If MU loses today, I think they could easily drop to #4 territory. If they win, do they have the resume to take over OU and KU for the KC spot? I don't see why not. All three teams have similar resumes.

For whatever reason, everyone outside of the Big 12 seems to think OU is the best of the three. I don't see it, but I guess they'll get the benefit of the doubt.

I guess that just depends on if you value winning a conference championship, or a 4 game tournament more.

Also, if you want to reward a team for losing to two poor to mediocre teams at the end of the season.

I don't "value" anything more. Everything factors in.

I think OU gets a higher seed than both MU & KU and OU hasn't won shit this year right?

That looks good to me. There really isn't a great candidate for that last #1 seed. It comes down to Pitt or UCONN, but neither have been great lately. It would be nice to see Syracuse bumped up to a #2 seed. I think they would deserve if it the seeds were completely predictive.

Actually, I would drop Duke to a #2 and put Memphis in as a #1.

What has Duke done to deserve a #1 seed? I don't think there is any way they beat out UCONN or Memphis for that #1.

I think they win the ACC Tournament moving them into a #1 seed.

Here is a stupid hypothetical. IF KU's and MU's positions were reversed. That is, if MU had finished third in conference, but in the top 15 in the nation. If KU was playing in the Big 12 Championship today, but had only had to beat one mediocre team and one good but not great team to get there. If basically the rest of the elite teams had lost in the last two or three days...would KU be getting talked about as a potential #1 seed right now?

Not if KU had finished third in conference.

But yes, if KU had won conference like they did and were now playing for the tourney championship. I still think they would likely have ended up a #2 though. Probably the #1 two seed.

OU is not in consideration for a 2 whatsoever.

Look at their last 12 games. They finished 2nd in conference, lost to 1 and 3 in the only games they played against them, got bounced in the first round of the tourney on basically a neutral court/home field.

After the game today, I can't wait to see UNC lose in the big tourney... I take away what I said about Hansbrough not flopping as much this year. Holy crap, that's all he did today... flop around and shoot free thows. He better be pretty thrilled that Ty Lawson will be back, because Hansflop can't take over a game when he plays like that... Yeah, he had a double-double, but he did plenty of stupid crap out there.

As far as the B12 bitch slap fight, eh... both teams should just be happy with whatever seed they get. I can see both losing early or playing in in the EE.
