I think Cassel did contribute to the loss but I agree with you that on the road calling an onside kick to start the game off is a very poor decision, you don't give Peyton Manning great field position on a high fail rate type of play. Also the decision to go for it on 4th and 2 was another terrible decision if they would have kicked the field goal we would have been going for just a touchdown at the end of the game to tie it.

I like aggressive play calling but not in the form of trickery, those are the type of plays you try at home.

This.

What does that tell you about our QB when the very coaches who see him everyday don't trust him to win us a game?

We're stuck with this turd until next year.

Why can't Ryan Mallet/Andrew Luck declare himself an NFL free agent so we can get this process started with!

If you actually read the threads, and not just the titles, this place is pretty civil & realistic... if anything, it knocked the fans down a couple of pegs, which isn't a bad thing after the 3-0 hype and "the Colts game is a tossup" talk. I thought there might be a meltdown, but if you think this is a meltdown, you haven't paid attention during other losses in the past several years.

Don't judge the board's overall mood of the season 20 minutes after a frustrating loss.... duh. For the two weeks leading up to the game, I knew a loss wasn't a big deal, but that doesn't mean I wasn't pissed off they blew chances to take the lead and possibly win the game.

First, flame away...that's fine. But, Cassel didn't lose this game for the Chiefs. Cassel didn't have much of an opportunity to lose this game.

The 4th and two on the first drive was stupid. The on sides kick was stupid, and poorly executed.

Now, lets move on. The Chiefs didn't push the ball down the field much. They were worried about Freeney and Mathis.

The Chiefs played scared. No real imagination.

They were worried about the Colts on the road, and it showed. They should have taken some shots down field.

Then, maybe we could have hung this loss on Cassel.

As it is, I put in on Haley. Not to say that I don't want Haley, or think he is a bad coach....just realize that he clearly thought the Chiefs were outclassed. He should be encouraged that the Chiefs played with the Colts the entire game. And, had a few things bounced their way, the Chiefs are winning that game.
Ehh...I wouldn't say they played scared because they did take some risks. I mean going for it on 4th down rather than taking the automatic 3 pts was a risk. The onside kick was a risk. Didn't agree with the risks they took.

I mean, if they were going to take chances, then they should've went down the field a little bit more. They played pretty much the same way the did in the playoffs against Indy, except, this time around, they executed better.

I think we just have to accept the fact that playing conservative against the Colts by running the ball all the time doesn't work.

*When you mention scared, I agree with you in a sense they were scared to drop back and pass in order to avoid both Freeney and Mathis. They somewhat played scared, but not entirely.

I can very easily see Pioli looking at this game and any future games just like it and saying "We need to get Matt some real receivers! Bowe and Chambers aren't cutting it!"

This team is so close yet so ****ing far away

I agree with most of your takes but I say the onsides kick was brilliant. Just missed by a yard. The 4th and 2 was a head scratcher. Why they don't just throw to Moeaki I don't know. Haley had a good game. Weis was calling the plays and had an off day. Only thing I can blame Haley for is giving it too much to Charles. His fumble was costly.

Oh and Bowe sucks.
