My friend told me Cassel was on a food network show a while back. Never saw it but said he acted like a prick. You never know with guys on camera. They can come off well or poorly. My gut tells me he is a little fake. Reading into his comments most times just makes me feel even more so with him not accepting blame.

I'd take my beer and pour in on Cassel's head. Then, I would take his beer and drink it right in front of him. Then, I would take his wife's beer and throw it right square on her bosom. Then, I would steal a beer from the guy at the next table and tell him that Cassel forced me to steal his beer and call his girlfriend an ugly, moon-faced, floozy who flaunted her meat curtains in front of the entire team. Then I would order another beer and kick back as the other guy beats the living crap out of Cassel.

That's pretty much how I think it would go as well.

However, in reality, I would drink his beer in about 30 seconds and say something like "You know why you're the biggest bidge that's ever walked on two legs?"

And then I'd have to try and live down how I got hospitalized for three weeks by the biggest bidge that's ever walked on two legs...

Meh, I have nothing against Matt Cassel. The guy took an absolute beating from the fans so I don't blame him in the least for being butthurt about everything that went down. It's not his fault he sucks. As a competitor, you're never happy about losing your job to a backup.

I have nothing against Cassel. I have a big problem with the organization that continued to parade him around like a golden boy. And that forced the coaching staff to start him, even at times when Cassel looked like even he didn't want to be out there.

Yeah. There is an unprecedented level of butthurt occurring in this thread. That being said, I'm still not clear on SNR's position on the matter. Do you think Cassel is a good guy or not, already? Quit being so cryptic!

Sorry. Tell me if this helps:

Matt Cassel is a worse person than Hitler.

****ing Honestly about the best thing I ever said about him was 'he played well in this game' or 'he wasn't crappy today'

I always maintained I would love to have a better QB.....

But ****ing who?

Well his comments after being benched were not the kind you would expect from the guy described by the OP. He never accepted any responsibility for getting benched.

I must confess I was against getting him in the first place fearing a repeat of "Scott Mitchell". My son and I argued at the time and he still defends getting him but says they should have changed last year when it was clear he wasn't going to elevate his game.

I'm sure he's a great guy but I have always felt like he gets nervous in pressure situations. If he checked to a run when the Raven's showed blitz what does that say about him? Orton was sacked once in 3 games largely because he recognized the blitz and changed to a play that would work. Often taking advantage of blitzing defenders by throwing downfield.

Time to move on saying I told you so or berating the guy doesn't change anything. We need to take the shotgun approach and draft and sign multiple QBs until we get a real one.

The move to trade for Cassel and give him a big contract despite not fully knowing what he was... I don't have a problem with that. It's the kind of gamble you have to make for a QB. Just like I don't care about taking gamble on Poe. These are the kinds of gambles the Chiefs need to make.

The front office's stubbornness to not admit they were wrong is inexcusable. And a fireable offense. The other problem is... the Chiefs don't make enough gambles like these and instead burn draft picks and free agent pickups time and time again on safe picks. It's because Pioli is so egotistical he wants to keep proving that he can build a team on a tight budget and to prove this Patriot Way philosophy of picking up great role players.

The move to trade for Cassel was not gamble.

It was the safe move for Pioli, getting a guy he was familiar with.

The issue is the fact that he thought this was a franchise QB.

This is not the guy I want picking the next QB.
