Yep. This defense is getting its ass handed to them in the first qtr, long before its reasonable to lay blame on the offense.

I do believe the overall D talent is better than what we are seeing, but at the same time I don't see a lot great individual performances. Outside of DJ a few games, and Houston once, our defensive stars aren't shining very bright. The overall scheme may be responsible for the end result, but I don't see guys winning their individual battles very often.

It may be time to start considering the idea that the talent level on this defense isn't quite what we thought.

thinking the D has the talent to be top unit is all that prevents us from acknowledging that the team may need a ground-up rebuild. The offense certainly doesn't provide much comfort in that area. I think a fresh injection of attitude and a few players here and there and it could be good. but then pretty much any D in the NFL could be good with a few players and new attitude, don't you think?

I still hold on to the notion that this team has a lot of talent at the skill positions. On offense we have Bowe and Charles. On defense we have DJ, Hali, Berry, Flowers, and potentially Houston.

Even assuming every other guy on this team is just a blue collar type player, the core makes this team a lot closer to good than it's current record suggests. Yes, the need for QB is glaring. But beyond that there is an overwhelming need for a coach/staff that knows how to maximize this talent.

The current coaching staff is outright incompetent. And it's not just poor game management, or bad playcalling. I honestly believe these coaches are fumble-****ing their way through every aspect of their jobs. Brian Daboll has never put out a good offense. Romeo Crennel put together 2 good years of defense in his entire career as D coordinator, and is clearly criminally in over his head as a HC.

We all came into this season expecting to blame all our losses on Cassel. And these coaches have manged to ruin the entire god damn franchise to a degree that blaming Cassel doesn't even make sense anymore.

Yep. More of a reflection of the GM in my opinion. When your GM can't pick a HC and QB, it's time to go.

In reality the problem with Pioli when it comes to HC and QB, no one wants to work with him. No quality HC wants to work for him, so we took RAC. Peyton Manning didn't want anything to do with Pioli either. Common problem isn't there?
