so then PFF is very flawed when grading QB's because shouldn't such an amazing tool take such a glaring weakness by a QB into account?

Do they? I can't see their scores but the summation on both guys seems about the same. I mean if you're comparing Matt Cassel on a functional team to Alex Smiths time on a functional team and not the dumpster fire he had to deal with early on.

2010 Cassel assesment

Of all quarterbacks who attempted 30 or more deep passes (and there were 31 quarterbacks who did so), Manning and Flacco finished in the bottom ten in completion percentage. Still it could be worse for both of them. They could be Matt Cassel.

The limited Chief struggled big time on his deep balls, completing just 14 of 57 for the worst percentage in the league. That beat out players like Alex Smith (25%), Chad Henne (25%)

The Harbaugh Years (2011-2012): The Not So Good

While Smith’s stats above took a major uptick starting in 2011, there were still some red flags. While his 70.2 completion percentage last season was impressive, it also showed his unwillingness to take chances and throw the ball downfield. His average depth of target of only 8 yards was the fourth-lowest of all quarterbacks and only 8.7 percent of Smith’s passes traveled 20+ yards downfield in 2012. Among quarterbacks who started at least half their games, only Christian Ponder had a lower percentage.

Smith also led the NFL in 2011 by taking 44 sacks, and was sacked 24 times in nine starts in 2012 before being replaced by Kaepernick. Smith was sacked on one third of his pressures in 2012, which led the league by a wide margin.

They seem a lot like the same guy. On a good team where they aren't required to do a ton they can be effective at protecting the football and game managing for you. Is Alex Smith a bit better? Sure, maybe, but that doesn't make me feel great. At least we have Reid

Some of those are arguable (Cutler, Rivers) but this whole idea suddenly that Joe Flacco is an elite QB is total bullshit and I didn't think Hamas Jenkins could be Rahim'd Moore like a lot of this board but it seems to have happened.

Flacco is a lot like Eli: A mediocre fantasy QB that has quietly put together multiple elite playoff seasons now.

That matters. In the last two postseasons he's thoroughly whipped Brady's ass twice, Manning's once, put together a damned nice SB, and a should-have-been-game-winning AFCCG drive.

Yeah, the Rahim Moore play was lucky, but so was the helmet catch, Tuck Rule, the end zone pick that the Bengal dropped in his breadbasket in SB XXIII, and several other examples.
