Nothing like a power dump after indulging in a Paula Dean recipe.

Especially great quote/soundbite:

If most people cracking her had to testify under oath whether they've used a racial slur 90% would either be lying or have to admit they have.

It's really the fault of the young people and their use of the n-word.

Quote:
On Wednesday Lauer specifically asked Deen if she had any doubt that African-Americans found the N-word offensive.

“I don’t know, I have asked myself that so many times,” Deen said. “It’s very distressing for me to go into my kitchens and hear what these young people are calling each other … it’s very distressing for me. I think for this problem to be worked on, that these young people are gonna have to take control and start showing respect for each other.”

I'll just assume you used my quote for fun and no actual reason.

They're sending her mixed messages, and she's old and from the South. How can she be expected to know it's a racial slur???

Again, thank you for the unnecessary use of the quote function. Glad I could help.

I really hate hearing this; its such a terrible argument. The word itself is one with a heavy history, no doubt; but for me, its all about intent. Some of my best, white friends call me "nig", "negro", "****a", and even "****er" at times (my Xbox Live name is Triggerman so its a running joke to call me ****erman), but I don't get mad because I know there's no malice in their words. You take a guy I don't know calling me something like that and we might have a totally different situation, and its all because I don't know their intentions.

Its become pretty popular for young, white women to call each other "bitch". No one is saying that these women are asking to be called bitches because they choose to use it as a term of endearment, so what gives?

If you are going to freak the **** out when someone else uses a word, maybe you shouldn't use it.

This is how I feel.

Words are words - the meaning behind them is what matters.

That thought brings me to another point: "cuss words"

Why is "poop" not as bad as "shit"? Why is "butt" not as bad as "ass"? They mean the same thing.

I hate arbitrary rules.
