That was interesting, after all the hype of him being the backup.

The bigger Patriot surprise was Jermaine Cunningham.

They might be the only team that struggles as much as the Chiefs with R2 picks.

College game day just informed me that Tebow had been released. I see you already know that. What would Tebow do?

I think KC needs a good backup CB, but I don’t know if Antoine Winfield would be the answer. After having a pretty good year with Minnesota Vikings, 16 games, 101 tackles, 12 PDs, and 3 INTs, he signed a $3 million deal to join the already strong secondary of the Seattle Seahawks. In the preseason, he has no tackles, http://www.nfl.com/teams/seattleseah...stics?team=SEA.

So is the 37 year old, 5’9”, 180 lb CB injured? Doesn’t seem like he got a chance to really show what he can do. I’d like someone that has watched Seattle’s preseason games to say if he even played.

Quote:
The Seattle Seahawks signed Antoine Winfield in April to bolster an already powerful secondary. The 36-year-old cornerback won't make it onto the regular-season with Pete Carroll's bunch.

CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported that Antoine Winfield will be among Seattle's cuts on Saturday, as the team whittles its roster down to 53 players by the 6 p.m. ET deadline.

La Canfora noted that Seattle might attempt to shop Winfield before releasing him. A team interested in padding their roster with one of the NFL's better run-stoppers might listen, but Winfield is primarily a nickel-type at this stage in his career. Parting ways with the former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl cornerback suggests the Seahawks like what they see in Jeremy Lane and Walter Thurmond III in support of starters Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner.

Carroll has talked repeatedly about the depth Seattle has built with the help of independent-minded general manager John Schneider. The organization views the cornerback position differently than other teams, pursuing a string of taller and more physical cover men. During our NFC West preview on Friday's "Around The League Podcast," we cited the Seahawks as the NFL's deepest team. It's a tough squad for an outsider to latch onto, something Winfield learned Saturday.

Somewhere, an ESPN producer just lost a job. He'll appeal, telling management that he'd be a great candidate for the newly-created opening for a "Geno Smith Producer", but it will be too little, too late. He'll take the drive down to the local Bristol Dive Bar where, joined by Skip Bayless and Stuart Scott, they'll split a fifth of Cutty Sark and sing about the better times.

Tim Tebow cut by New England Patriots

The Tim Tebow Experience is over in New England.

Tebow was released by the team on Saturday, ending another chapter in the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback's wandering pro career, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport was told by a source informed of the move.
Despite the requisite fervor draped upon Tebow's every move, it's far from a surprising transaction if the Patriots intended to fill their 53-man roster with the best players available. With Ryan Mallett firmly in place as Tom Brady's backup, Tebow played himself out of the role during an underwhelming preseason.

Tebow was signed in June, a move that made some sense considering the presence of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels -- Tebow's former coach with Denver Broncos -- and Bill Belichick, whose affinity for University of Florida players is well-documented. Still, the Patriots needed to see Tebow develop as a quarterback in time for the regular season, and he didn't come close: His 11-of-30 passing performance over three appearances netted just 145 yards, with a pair of touchdowns and two picks.

Coming off an unproductive, chaotic 2012 campaign with the New York Jets, it's fair to wonder if Tebow's days in the NFL have drawn to a close.

Asked after Thursday's preseason finale against the New York Giants if he was worried about floating on the roster bubble, Tebow was typically stoic:

"I'm blessed, because of my faith, that I don't have to worry about the future because I know who holds my future," Tebow told reporters. "It's something I try to live by. It really gives you a lot of peace in whatever circumstance I'm in."

Those circumstances, today, will pull Tebow away from New England. Where he lands next is anyone's guess.
