On the other hand. Extending Albert probably could of saved them more money.

But, since they failed on that and cant until next offseason, this was prolly the next best thing. Doesn't bode well for Hali in the long run though
It basically means that for the next 4 years of his contract, he'll cost an extra ~$3M to cut in year 1, ~$2M in year 2, ~$1M in year 3. Of course I'm not saying he'll be cut. I'm just saying it's not like he's taking a paycut. He's still going to get the money, but the Chiefs are spreading the cap hit over 3-4 years.

sure it is. Its the same thing the Patriots did with Tom Brady this offseason. When he "signed his extension."

Teams move money like this all the time.

The 49ers did it with Justin smith, and Patrick willis too.

Yeah. It makes sense though. the cap is supposed to rise significantly starting next year, or the year after, I cant remember which.

I sadly don't have that problem. But I do know that guaranteed money is always better than non guaranteed money lol

Pretty standard procedure when a guy is due a huge base salary. Happened to treat green and Tyson Jackson. It helps both sides. Flowers knows the team is less likely to cut be I'm which is huge if he starts to decline or gets injured, and the Chiefs save cap space.

No real indication of a big move coming. Teams like to have a little cap cushion in case of an injury situation, and the money rolls over to next season's cap regardless. I don't believe they can negotiate with Albert, as he signed his contract already this season. It's highly doubtful that Albert will be in KC next season, and I imagine the Chiefs didn't select Fisher at 1.1 to be their RT after this year anyway.

He'll earn the same exact amount over the course of sixteen weeks. His taxation amount will depend on whether or not he's asked the club to withhold taxes.
