We are merely in a twilight period before Dr. Evil is burned at the stake around midnight. There's no cause for alarm.

Nobody (other than Mr. Dane McCloud) expected Pioli to perform his GM duties as though he were a brain-damaged orangutan. As a result, Clark probably gave him a generous termination compensation package (confident that he'd never have to use it). That means one of three things has to occur. Either, A) Pioli is convinced to fall on his own sword after all his authority is stripped, or B) An acceptable compromise is negotiated, or C) Clark's attorneys tell him it's okay to fire him for cause and let the courts decide it.

All else is media rat-droppings unworthy of our concern or attention.

You are completely missing the part where Clark said the HC and GM will be on equal footing and both report to him.

Also, during the interviews, he never mentions Pioli's name when referring to the GM position.

Considering the type of HC he wants, there is NO WAY Ferentz is the next one.

He has stripped Pioli of this decision, why give one of his buddies this position?

Pioli was fired yesterday, as the above loudly proclaim. It simply has to be a contract issue/dispute. Common sense suggests little other alternative.

Sure seems like the supposed interviews lined up so far are completely opposite of Chunt's rhetoric yesterday.
