Far too many nay-sayers on this thread-thing.

Far too many.

Chiefs are going to shock the NFL World tomorrow. Book it.

I hope I am proven wrong Sunday but I am not going to put up the pink slip on the Benz on this game. Even though they are extremely motivated to win in Pittsburgh for the first time in like 32 years I just don't see it happening.
Someone earlier posted the stat that we havent won in Pittsburgh since Mark Malone was their QB... a streak like that eventually crumbles under its own weight

We've been thiiiiiis close to beating them a couple different times with Smith, now that Sheriff Mahomes is in town... I believe we'll finally get that monkey off our back

Question:

What will be the narrative if the Chiefs win?

Everyone said we would lose at LAC. They’re too good for us, right? Chiefs will regress this year.

Then we win. The narrative changes. The Chargers suck. The Chargers lost that game, we didn’t win it. Chiefs still aren’t very good.

Does the narrative about the Steelers change if we win? All of a sudden, is this the first real sign of their decline? Or will it be about an injury for the Steelers? Dropped passes again?

I like the way you think....

Seriously, the only way that happens is if Ben is actually too hurt to be starting. I cant think that have having a bruised throwing elbow and missing, essentially, the entire week of prep is going to help him.

He's played hurt before...and did so poorly....at least that's the sentiment on various Steeler's fourms.

I'm not saying this is case but there could be a bit of political pressure for him to at least try to start in the home opener. They are already without their disgruntled All-Pro RB and their back-up QB has never played in an NFL game. BB has been that tough SOB QB persona ... that plays through injury. The difference is he's 36 now...

Reading the pundit pap is very interesting.

A lot of coneheads are comparing the Human Trebuchet to Fav-a-rah. That is lazy and stupid. Flat out.

Mahomes is 1000 times smarter than Fav-a-rah. He's more mature at 22 than Fav-a-rah is today. Plus, do people not realize that Wally learned a lot during his tenure with the Packers? He learned what to do ... and, perhaps more importantly, he learned what not to do. Wally's QB Whispering has improved since those days and he has a much more refined clay to mold.

It's funny how reality can stare some people right square in the face and yet they still rely on fabricated narratives. It's sad, really.

Money is absolutely far more mature and polished than Favre was at this point in his career

But I'd have to disagree that the comparisons arent valid, that was the first name that came to Reids mind after studying him... and Pat himself has mentioned him as someone he patterns his game after

The maturity thing though, you're dead on

Just earlier today I was imagining myself at 22, then looking at all of the intense pressure Mahomes is under at the same age and how well he is handling it all and trying to see myself capable of it... lulz, no chance whatsoever

The kid was just born for this, knew it about him almost immediately

The typical comparisons are based on arm-strength, primarily ... actually ... not primarily ... that's pretty much the data point they seem to store in their asses and pull out when the mic is on.

I'm not going to dispute Wally and I'm in no position to challenge Mahomes' respect for Fav-a-rah's game. I'd never do that. But Wally isn't going to say, "Mahomes has Fav-a-rah's arm but compared to Fav-a-rah's smarts, he's Marilyn vos Savant's and Daniel Tammet's love child." That isn't the Wally Way.

The fact is there is a lot more to Mahomes' game than slinging the ball. I think that's what I'm trying to express.

Mahomes is absolutely a far more cerebral guy... a genuine student of the game from day 1

Favre literally didnt know what a Cover 2 was until he got to Green Bay

As always, Mr. ptlyon, your insight has fostered a rare thought-thing on my part. Let us reason together a moment ...

We can anticipate the usual excuses ... as we have, but it's also possible that we'll hear some brand new ones.

For example, one of the mitigating justifications we haven't yet heard, but could well hear is the, "We've never played that QB before." whimper.

We could very well hear that whine during Tomlin's presser in which he says, "Well, you know, we didn't have much tape on Mahomes." or "He's a talented QB that we'll see again, but today he did some unexpected things." You know, stuff like that.

Tomlin is capable of blaming everybody except himself. This weekend, it could be their DVR specialist.
