I think the Chiefs are actually at a good position to get what they need without paying more to move up. Plus, it seems like there's some good talent in the middle rounds, so I have no interest in losing those picks.

That said, I generally prefer trading down to trading up, for a number of reasons. However, I have suddenly discovered a new variant to that rule. If you're the Super Bowl champions, you generally have fewer areas of need, and it takes a player with more talent to break into the starting lineup. So if you're the talent-packed Chiefs, I can see an argument for trading up to keep the talent level ultra-high in the starting lineup.

So this really means there's zero chance we're drafting a receiver and zero chance we're moving up. Because anything we really want to do isn't making it to the media.

Every coach/GM front office type is putting out smoke screen BS to camouflage their intentions or to put out a shiny object to deflect.

Then on draft day every team goes out to the media to gush that they got the #1 person on their board with every pick.

You know what I’d love to see?

Veach moves 32 and next years first to move up to 25 and getting a late second/early third thrown in this year.

I’d be happy with that.

Next years draft might come after a shortened season in college football, if any.

Not really.

He’s saying it’s a rumor he’s heard, but he’s implying he doesn’t even necessarily believe it.

It’s pretty obvious that he’s not reporting it as fact.

This is Veach's first 1st round pick. He doesn't strike me as a guy content to sit at 32 and i bet he's itching to swoop up his guy, whoever that is.

I would not be surprised at all if the Chiefs trade up. This ain't grandpa's Chiefs anymore.

It wouldn't surprise me either. What would surprise me if the trade up was for Ruggs. I see that more as a smokescreen personally
